John J. "Sean" Kelly, 69, of Bethel, died April 13, in Danbury. He was born in Tarrytown, N.Y., on January 9, 1949, son of Eileen (Small) and Bernard Kelly.

His wife of 43 years, Essie; daughters, Keri Reilly of Newtown and Chrystie Kelly of Brooklyn, N.Y.; his grandsons, Kyle Reilly and Sean Reilly; and several nieces and nephews survive him.

Mr Kelly attended Stepinac High School, Pace University, Iona College, and Quinnipiac University School of Law. He worked at American Can Company as director of international taxes, Coopers & Lybrand, and was CFO of KW Controls. Most recently he had a private practice specializing in business law. Mr Kelly was also on the board of directors of Echelon Materials.

He was a life member of Rescue Hose Company #1, Sleepy Hollow, N.Y. He served as president, vice president, and treasurer of Bethel Softball Association. Mr Kelly held several positions for the Town of Bethel, including treasurer, chairman of the Ethics Committee, and Zoning Board of Appeals. He was admitted as an attorney and counselor of the US Supreme Court in 2007.

The family will receive friends during a memorial visitation on Friday, April 20, at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, from 3 to 7 pm.
