Helen Marie Kerecz

Helen Marie Kerecz, 93, of Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. ,and formerly of Milford, died January 23. She was born in Olyphant, Penn., October 11, 1920, to Michael and Dora Sawayda Dyki.

A sister, Kay Lee Blomberg of Newtown, and a brother, William J. Dyki of Woodbridge; two sons, Dr John C. Kerecz of Dobbs Ferry and Charles Allan Kerecz of New York City; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews survive Mrs Kerecz. She was predeceased in 1981 by her husband, Charles Kerecz. 

In 1945, she moved to Connecticut and was employed by the General Electric Defense Company in Bridgeport and later Raybestos-Manhattan in Stratford. She married in 1947, and moved to Milford in 1948.

Mrs Kerecz was a retired secretary and credit specialist and seamstress, and a member of the Creative Writing Group at the Milford Senior Center. She was a member of the Dobbs Ferry Senior Citizens, Sacred Heart Community Group, and the Women’s Club of Dobbs Ferry. She always enjoyed her writing and gardening.

A wake is scheduled at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 Broad Street, Milford, Tuesday, January 28, from 9 to 10 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St Mary’s Church, 70 Gulf Street, Milford, at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in St Mary’s Cemetery.
