Albert C. Verrillo, 89, of Fairfield, beloved husband of the late Patricia Ciacia Verrillo for 54 years, died peacefully April 20. Born in Southport, he had been a Fairfield resident for most of his life.

Mr Verrillo was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who found extreme happiness in spending time with his family and friends. His daughter, Jill Cherry; two beloved grandchildren, who knew him as "Papa," Jessica N. Cherry and Justin A. Cherry of Newtown; his daughter-in-law, Heidi Bender of Fairfield; and several nieces and nephews survive him.

His mother, Mary Stellato Verrillo; father, Anthony Verrillo; two brothers, John and Frank Verrillo; wife, Patricia Ciacia Verrillo; son, Bruce D. Verrillo; and a son-in-law, Thomas A. Cherry, predeceased him.

Mr Verrillo belonged to the Southport Fire Department as a volunteer member since he was 17 years old. He was also a very proud Army veteran, having served in the Korean War, from 1950 to 1952. Following his service, Mr Verrillo played softball with four different teams in Southport, where he met his wife of 54 years. He was employed as a journeyman printer for 45 years. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, and gardening.

Friends may greet the family Thursday, April 26, at Spear Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, from 5 to 7 pm, followed by a service to celebrate Mr Verrillo's life.
