Margery H. Fisk

Memorial Service

A memorial service for Margery H. Fisk of Newtown, who died February 18, will

be held at the Trinity Episcopal Church, Main Street, Newtown, on Saturday,

March 6, at 2 pm.

Following the service, a reception will be held at the Cyrenius H. Booth

Library, 26 Main Street, Newtown.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Cyrenius H. Booth Library or to

Charlotte D. Randall

Charlotte D. Randall, 53, wife of George Randall, of 163 Berkshire Road,

Southbury, died March 1, in Danbury Hospital. She was the sister of Maxine Mas

of Newtown.

She was a former resident of Newtown and attended Newtown schools. A resident

of Southbury since 1993, she was also a former resident of Danbury.

She was born in Danbury on September 10, 1946, daughter of Milton Romaine, Sr,

of Danbury and the late Caroline (Romaine) Westover.

Mrs Randall was last employed at Pelham Products Company in Bethel.

She is survived, besides her husband, father and sister, by two sons, John

Wilkes of Thomaston and Timothy Wilkes of Southbury; her stepfather, Stanley

Westover of Danbury; one brother, Milton Romaine, Jr, of Danbury; two other

sisters, Mary Romaine of Waterbury and Carol Roos of Danbury; and four

grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 5, at 10 am, at the Honan

Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. Cremation will be at the convenience of

the family. There are no calling hours.

Laura S. Hard

Memorial Service

A memorial service for Laura Suzanne Hard, 56, wife of William Hard of 16

Russett Road, Sandy Hook, will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church on March 10

at 2 pm, with Rev Kathleen Adams-Shepherd officiating.

Mrs Hard died February 2.

Ernest J. Long

Ernest J. Long, 84, a former resident of Newtown for 35 years, died February

28, in Mediplex of Southbury. He was the husband of Elizabeth (Fiske) Long and

resided at 799B Heritage Village, Southbury.

He was a retired electronics supervisor for the General Electric Corporation.

Mr Long was born in Thornton, R.I., April 9, 1914, a son of the late Paul and

Dora (Landman) Long. He had been a resident of Heritage Village for the past

two years. Prior to living in Newtown, he resided in Wilton.

In addition to his wife, Mr Long is survived by two sons, Barry E. Long of

Pound Ridge, N.Y., and Marc Long of Wilbraham, Mass.; two daughters, Sydney L.

Machon of Westlake Village, Calif., and E. Julie Kostes of Kapa'Av, Hawaii;

ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A Memorial Service was held March 4 in Sacred Heart Church, Southbury.

Cremation will take place at the convenience of the family.

Ash Street, East Hartford, CT 06108-3272 or to Parkinsons Disease Association,

27 Allendale Drive, North Haven, CT 06473.

Keith C. Hatfield

Keith C. Hatfield, 64, of North Main Street, Branford, father of Dawn Corsello

of Newtown, died February 27, at his home.

Born in Binghamton, N.Y., August 18, 1934, he was a son of the late Kenneth

and Kay (Ferguson) Hatfield. He was a resident of Branford since 1994 and was

employed as a bartender at Webster's Restaurant in Branford. He was previously

employed at the Old Saybrook Inn, Old Saybrook.

In addition to his daughter, Mr Hatfield is survived by two sons, James

Hatfield of Flushing, N.Y., and Kevin Hatfield of Queens, N.Y., and another

daughter, Kimberly Hatfield of Manchester.

Cremation took place at Mountain Grove Crematory, Bridgeport.

Arrangements were by the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.

William J. Whamond

William J. Whamond, 85, of Heritage Village, Southbury, father of William E.

Whamond of Newtown, died February 24, in Danbury Hospital.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., November 23, 1913, a son of the late Mr and Mrs

William G. Whamond. Mr Whamond was a graduate of St John's University. He was

an executive of the Continental Baking Company, retiring in 1973 as

secretary-treasurer. He was a former resident of Westwood, N.J., where he was

active in the Knights of Columbus; he also resided in Port Chester, N.Y.,

prior to living in Southbury.

In addition to his son, Mr Whamond is survived by a stepson, Barry Boyd of

Greenwich; three daughters, Mary S. Ciccone of Port Chester, N.Y., Rosemary

McClane of Blairstown, N.J., and Christine Anderson of Weston; three sisters,

Sr Mary W. Whamond of the College of St Vincent, Riverdale, N.Y., Bernadette

Kelly of Marshalls Creek, Penn., and Helen Whamond of Brooklyn; 13

grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a close friend, Ruth Phelan of

Southbury.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Rev Martin T. Crowe, friend of

the family, at St Rose of Lima Church, Newtown, February 27. Interment was in

St Mary's Cemetery, Port Chester, N.Y.

Funeral arrangements were by the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.

Grace B. Brant

Grace (Bermelin) Brant, 69, of Bridgeport, wife of the late Michael Brant,

died February 26, in Bridgeport Hospital. She was the mother of Michele Olson

of Newtown.

Born in Bridgeport, Mrs Brant was a resident of Monroe for 30 years before

moving to Fairfield, and then Bridgeport. She was a dispatcher for the Monroe

Police Department for ten years and a clerk for the State of Connecticut

Department of Corrections for 15 years.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Beverly Brant

and son-in-law, Fernando Bento.

Survivors, in addition to her daughter, include another daughter, Marilee

Brant of New London; one granddaughter, Michaela Brant of Bridgeport; one

sister, Gladys Sayers of Southbury; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on March 2 in the Lesko-Miner Funeral Home, 155

Main Street (Route 25), Monroe, and St Stephen Church, Trumbull. Burial

followed in Lakeview Cemetery.

Peter J. Cirella

Peter J. Cirella, 62, of Fairfield, husband of Geraldine "Gerry" Cirella for

43 years, died February 25, in Bridgeport Hospital. He was the father of David

Cirella and Beth Feldman of Newtown.

Mr Cirella was born in Bridgeport February 5, 1937, and had been a Fairfield

resident for the past 38 years. He graduated from Central High School,

University of Bridgeport, and US Command & General Staff College. He served in

the US Army Reserve for 23 years, and retired as a major in 1977. He was a

lieutenant with the Fairfield Fire Department, where he served from 1966-1987.

In 1988 he was the general manager for the Fairfield Beach Club, Inc. Most

recently he was the facility manager for the Gaelic-American Club.

He was a member of the Reserve Officers Association, National Guard

Association of Connecticut, International Association of Fire Fighters,

Gaelic-American Club, Municipal Heart & Hypertension, American Legion, and

past distinguished secretary for the Fairfield Kiwanis, as well as past

Division 30 governor. He also was very involved with coaching football and

basketball for organizations like Pop Warner, Wakeman's, Holy Family, Joel

Barlow High School, and the Jaycees.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, son and daughter, include two other

daughters, Lauren Cirella of Bridgeport, and Carolyn Wach of Fairfield; one

other son, Joseph Cirella of Fairfield; six grandchildren, William, Peter and

Chris Voight, Josh and Adam Feldman, Austin, John and Amanda Cirella; two

sisters, Dorothy Jones Boothby and Phyllis Byland; and several nieces and

nephews.

Services were held March 1 at Holy Family Church, 700 Old Stratfield Road,

Fairfield. Interment was in Lawncroft Burial Park with full firefighter and

military honors.

The Lesko Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, Fairfield Center, was in charge of

arrangements.

Rodd Ganser

Rodd Ganser, 28, of Fairfield, formerly of Newtown, died February 27, after a

lengthy, courageous battle with leukemia.

Born in Bridgeport, Mr Ganser resided in Stratford before moving to Fairfield

in 1981. He was a member of the first graduating class at Fairfield High

School, and had attended Moorehead State University. He was a salesman for SNE

Enterprises.

He leaves his parents, Richard and Judith (Weinschenk) Ganser of Southport;

one brother, Ryon Ganser of Monroe; two sisters, Romy Cascella of East

Greenwich, R.I., and Randee Ganser of Fairfield; his maternal grandmother,

Rose Weinschenk of Bridgeport; two nephews, Cory Cascella and Jack Ganser; two

aunts, including Jacqueline Pelletier of Stratford; and his canine companion,

Hoag'n.

A Mass of Christian burial was held on March 2 at St Ann Church, 481 Brewster

Street, Black Rock. Interment followed in Oaklawn Cemetery.

The Lesko Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road in Fairfield Center, was in charge of

arrangements.

Kathleen R. Clark

Kathleen (Ryan) Clark, 72, of Fairfield, a retired executive secretary with

Fairfield University, died February 25, in her home. She was the mother of

Ellen K. Bonacci of Newtown.

Born in Bridgeport, Mrs Clark had been a Fairfield resident for the past 47

years. A graduate of Fairfield University, Mrs Clark was a member of the

Gaelic-American Club in Fairfield and a literacy volunteer at the Mercy

Learning Center in Bridgeport. She belonged to the Pacers, and was a member of

the Fairfield Senior Citizens. She was the wife of the late Arthur A. Clark.

Survivors, in addition to her daughter, include two other daughters, Rosemary

Clark of San Juan, Costa Rica, Elizabeth A. Clark of Cos Cob, and a son,

Arthur T. Clark of Milford; a brother, John Ryan of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; three

sisters, Elizabeth Wilson of Milford, Eleanor Fenton of Leland, N.C., and

Sister Rosemary Ryan of Enfield; five grandchildren, Michael, Karen, and Ryan

Clark, and Brian and Stephanie Bonacci; a great-grandson, Layne Clark; and

several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on March 1 in the Spear Funeral Home, 39 South

Benson Road, Fairfield, and in Holy Family Church, Fairfield, with a Mass of

Christian Burial. Interment followed in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield.
