Gerard Arthur "Art" Sheehan, Jr, 87, of Monroe, died April 28, in Masonicare At Newtown. He was born in Bridgeport, son of the late Gerard and Jessie Sheehan.

His two devoted children and their spouses, Deborah and Timothy Reilly of Newtown and Thomas and Lynn Sheehan of Woodbury; four grandchildren and their spouses, Emily and Jonathan Gregori, Meghan and Joseph Andrews, Sean and Claire Reilly, and Brendan and Maggie Reilly; and five great-grandchildren survive him.

His beloved wife, Catherine Fekete Sheehan, whom he missed dearly, predeceased him.

Mr Sheehan graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School and received his BA from Fairfield University. He was the proprietor of Investigative Services. After his retirement, he was an associate at his son's firm, Thomas G. Sheehan Agency. Mr Sheehan was an army veteran of the Korean War and member of the Korean War Vets in the greater Danbury area.

He was an active member of the community. He was a founding member of the Knights of Columbus Blessed Pope John XXIII Council #5987 and of the Monroe Grandparents Club; a past member of the A.O.H.; a member of St Stephen's Holy Name Society and the bowling league; a religious education teacher at St Jude's Parish; and a substitute teacher at Masuk High School, as recently as November 2017. He enjoyed mentoring a young student early on, all the way through his high school years. Mr Sheehan even found time to take bagpipe lessons in honor of his Uncle Donald Henderson.

He strived to make a difference in life each day with his positive attitude and influence with his family, friends, all his wonderful caretakers, and even those he did not know. "Family, friends, and faith" was his motto. His loved ones say his family meant the world to him.

Friends may call Friday, May 4, from 4 to 8 pm at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Road, Trumbull.

Family and friends are invited to attend Mr Sheehan's funeral services Saturday, May 5, at 9:15 am at the funeral home and at 10 am at St Jude's Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe. Interment will be in St John's Cemetery with full military honors.
