Nurse Aide Training To Begin
WATERBURY â Naugatuck Valley Community Collegeâs (NVCC) 93-hour part-time Nurse Aide Certification (CNA) course will begin on September 6.
Certified nurse aides are able to work in a variety of settings, including acute care hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, home care, hospice, some physiciansâ offices, and out-patient clinics. They are qualified to perform many functions for people in need, such as providing personal care and measuring vital signs under the supervision of registered nurses.
The CNA course at NVCC is taught by an experienced faculty of registered nurses. After successful completion of the CNA course and a special recognition ceremony at which graduates receive their certificates and pins, students are eligible to be listed on the Connecticut Nurse Aide Registry. Clinical experiences are held at skilled nursing facilities/hospitals. The required competency skill and written exam is given on-site and is included in the $549 cost of the course. A tuition installment plan is available.
