Beloved Father And Grandfather
Filippo Cappelli, 98, of Newtown, died peacefully, May 9. He was born in Ausonia, Italy, the son of Angelo and Giuseppa Cappelli. He was the beloved husband of the late Giovanna Poccia.
He is survived by two children, Angelo and Giuseppina, six grandsons, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mr Cappelli always put his family first, and was very loved by his family, especially the grandchildren.
He faithfully served in World War II, and was a prisoner of war survivor. He left his native home of Italy for a better life in America and arrived here on March 19, 1960.
Mr Cappelli loved to spend time in the garden, watching his favorite soccer team, Napoli, and enjoying his homemade wine with friends and family. He will be missed by all that were blessed to have known him.
The funeral mass took place at St Rose of Lima Church, May 12. Interment followed in St Rose of Lima Cemetery, Newtown.
