Melkon Adams, 84, of Sandy Hook died peacefully at Danbury Hospital November 7. “Mel” or “Micky,” as he was known to his family, was born in New Britain, August 16, 1929, and lived all of his life in Connecticut.

He was a beloved business education teacher at Rockville High School for 35 years, until his retirement in 1986.

Mr Adams was best known for his moves on the dance floor, most notably his light-footed merengue. He also religiously followed the sport of horseracing, ultimately devising his own “Lucky System” with the goal of “beating the odds and winning big.” Though he did not achieve his goal, he did “win big” in the category of family, all of whom adored him. He leaves behind his wife of 30 years, Mary Adams; two stepchildren, Lisa Schwartz of Newtown and David Wemett of Newington; and two sisters, Mary Kosakowski of New Britain and Betty Careb of Bristol.

His tireless optimism and light-hearted nature were a gift, and his kind and gentle spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of Mr Adams’ life took place November 10. Memorial donations may be sent to Yale Cancer Center at www.GiveCloserToFree.org.
