ACA GALLERIES WILL PRESENT DELOSS MCGRAW SEPT. 8

NEW YORK CITY — “DeLoss McGraw, Innocence: In Response to the works of Joseph Cornell, Lewis Carroll and Richard Brautigan” will be on view September 8–October 13 at ACA Galleries. An opening reception will be Saturday, September 8, 2 to 5 pm with an artist’s talk at 3.

The exhibition includes paintings and sculptures by DeLoss McGraw, who is inspired by literature, often the poetry of Snodgrass, Yeats, Brecht and Blake, among others. The paintings and sculptures in the current exhibition were made in response to the work of Joseph Cornell, Lewis Carroll and Richard Brautigan. McGraw’s illustrated version of Alice in Wonderland won the Illustrator’s Society Book of the Year Award 2002.

He has had more than 90 solo exhibitions throughout the United States and Europe. Recent public commissions include a mural at Levin’s Children’s Hospital, Charlotte, N.C., a sculpture at Peabody College garden, Vanderbilt University, in addition to a permanent installation and wall treatment, at Nova University, Mailman and Segal Institute for Childhood Development, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
