Margaret C. Jones, 91, of Newtown, died peacefully October 10, surrounded by family and friends, at Newtown Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Born in Bridgeport, daughter of Salvatore “Sam” and Mary (Zambardo) Magaraci, she was the beloved wife of the late Frank J. Jones for 59 years, before his death in 2010.

Mrs Jones graduated from Bassick High School and obtained her teaching degree at New Haven State Teachers College (SCSU). She later earned her master’s and sixth-year degrees at Fairfield University. She retired from the Fairfield Public School system after several decades of service as an elementary school teacher.

They made their home in Fairfield for many years before moving to Shelton. Together, Mrs and Mr Jones enjoyed traveling here and abroad. She especially treasured visits from her fellow retired teachers as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her two devoted children, Andrea of West Haven and Tim and his wife, Darlene, of Sandy Hook; her beloved grandchildren and their spouses, Matthew Allard, Adam Allard, Christian and Tammy Allard, Jennifer and Carlos DeAlmeida, Michael and Heather Jones, and Cody Jones; her five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews survive her.

The family thanks the staff of Newtown Rehabilitation and Health Care Center for their care and devotion to Mrs Jones in her final years.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated October 13 at St Jude Roman Catholic Church, Monroe. Interment followed in St Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
