Elizabeth Mussgnug
Elizabeth “Betty” Mussgnug, 95, of Danbury, beloved wife of 63 years to the late Adolph H. Mussgnug, died peacefully October 8, at Maplewood of Stony Hill. She was born in Manhattan, N.Y., June 3, 1923, and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Taborsky) Wachtel.
She will be sadly missed by her children and their spouses, Pam and Paul Tichon of Newtown and Jim and Pat Mussgnug of Clifton Park, N.Y.; her four grandchildren, Karl Mussgnug and his fiancé, Emma, Erich Mussgnug and his wife, Kellie, Dan Tichon and his wife, Sara, and Jen Tichon; and several nieces and nephews, who survive her.
In her younger years, Mrs Mussgnug worked as a stenographer and was proud to have attained the status of head of the typing pool. Her career continued throughout her life in various administrative positions for companies including MetLife, Barden, and Heli-Coil. During the 1950s and 60s, she and her husband developed, owned, and operated Hemlock Shores on Candlewood Lake.
A talented needle worker, she enjoyed sewing, crochet, rug hooking, and crewel embroidery.
Mrs Mussgnug was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to cook, bake, and spend time with her loved ones. Her family says they are blessed by many cherished memories.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the caregivers at Maplewood for their friendship, love, and compassionate care.
The family will receive friends Thursday, October 11, from 6 to 8 pm, at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury.
Funeral Services will take place Friday, October 12, at 11 am, in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Great Plain Cemetery, Danbury.
