Robert H. Simpson, 65, of Danbury, formerly of Newtown, loving husband of 42 years to Sally (Walker) Simpson, died August 23, at Danbury Hospital.

Son of the late William Simpson, Sr, he served in the Navy during the Vietnam Conflict on the USS Fred T. Berry

He worked for and retired from Western Connecticut State University after 25 years.

He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Mr Simpson loved his hobbies — US history and his collectibles. He was a member of the Mason’s Eureka Lodge #83 in Bethel.

In addition to his wife, Mr Simpson will be missed by his mother Nellie (Daniels) Simpson of Newtown; his children Shannon Dinsmore, and her husband Frank, and Jamie Randall, and her husband Kevin, all of Danbury; his brother William Simpson, Jr, and his wife Sarah, of Newtown; his brother-in-law and best friend Richard VanHouten of Bethel; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, August 29, at 11 am, at Wooster Cemetery, Danbury. Friends will be received on Wednesday, August 28, from 5 to 8 pm, at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury.
