William David Baldwin Ferris III, 55, of Scottsdale, Ariz., died August 16. Originally a resident of Newtown, he was born April 12, 1958, and embarked on an exciting life journey.

He grew up on his family’s farm and was active in the local 4H as a young man. In his adult life he traveled the world and showed his many talents in diverse careers on land and sea, while living in Connecticut, England, and Arizona.

A deeply religious and faithful man, he was devoted to the Episcopal Church throughout his life. At the time of his passing he was surrounded by love and prayer.

In addition to the countless people he touched throughout his life, his mother, Jean Walton of Veiques, Puerto Rico; dearly loved sister Stephanie Scott of Sandy Hook; and brothers Ronald Ferris of Newtown and Wayne Ferris of Enfield survive Mr Ferris. His best friend James Bruzzi of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; and his three beloved terriers also survive him. He is predeceased by his father, William David Baldwin Ferris, Jr, of Newtown.

His family would like to express their sincere thanks and admiration to the medical staff at the Scottsdale Healthcare Shea Intensive Care Unit and the clergy at St Anthony on the Desert Episcopal Church.

Funeral services will take place at 4 pm, Wednesday, August 21, at St Anthony on the Desert Episcopal Church, 12990 East Shea Boulevard, in Scottsdale. A memorial service will take place at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Newtown on a future date.
