Sal Cucco, 50, formerly of Stamford, died July 27, at Danbury Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He endured countless surgeries and procedures with an ever-positive and courageous spirit that inspired all who loved him. He was born in Stamford, January 18, 1963, to Giovanna and Alberto Cucco.

For many years, Mr Cucco was a member of the Settefratese Social Club. As a third degree member of the Virgillius Council 185 Knights of Columbus in Newtown, he was recently awarded Knight of the Year, and was head chef and chair for many of its council dinners and fundraising efforts. Mr Cucco was a parishioner of St Rose of Lima Church and was devoted to La Madonna di Canneto and Padre Pio.

As an enterprising young man, he became the owner of several businesses, including Galaxy Limousine and World Travel, Luna Rossa Restaurant, and Cucco’s Catering. His beautiful singing voice and love for Italian music also led him to join James Daniel Entertainment, where he performed at special events for many years. He was also an experienced dog trainer and barber.

His beloved wife Paula; daughter and “princess” Marisa, son and “partner” Giovanni; parents Alberto and Theresa Cucco; brother-in-law Domenic Recchia; several nephews and nieces; and aunts, uncles, and cousins in Settefrati, Italy, and Canada survive Mr Cucco. His mother Giovanna DeRubeis Cucco, his sister Maria-Rita Recchia, his paternal and maternal grandparents, and other relatives predeceased him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, July 31, at 11 am, at St Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown. Interment will follow at St John’s Cemetery, Darien. Relatives and friends may call at the Lacerenza Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, Tuesday, July 30, from 4 to8 pm. There will be no visitation at the funeral home prior to the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Cucco Family Fund, via Diane Lav, 7 Buck Trail, Sandy Hook CT 06482.
