Longtime Newtown Resident

Eleanor Cunningham, 88, wife of Thomas J. Cunningham of Bonnie Brae Drive, died December 1 in Danbury Hospital.

In addition to her husband, Mrs Cunningham is survived by two daughters, Ellen Klaus of Newtown and Cathy Geoghegan of Bethel; two sons, Thomas J. Cunningham, Jr, of Woodside, N.Y., and Richard M. Cunningham of Stony Point, N.Y.; two brothers, Patrick Astegher of Plainville, L.I., N.Y., and Daniel Healy of New York City; two sisters, Anna Gould of Long Island, N.Y., and Nora Burke of Keansburg, N.J.; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Berny Klaus and by eight brothers and sisters.

She was born in New York City on April 14, 1917, a daughter of Thomas and Ellen (Toomey) Astegher. Mrs Cunningham was a longtime resident of Newtown and was a communicant of St Rose of Lima Church.

Funeral services were held December 5 from the Honan Funeral Home, Newtown, and in St Rose of Lima Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment followed in Resurrection Cemetery, Newtown.
