NVCC Offers Fall Real Estate Courses

WATERBURY — Whether one is interested in starting a career in real estate, or are already a broker or salesperson who needs to meet the ongoing educational requirements, Naugatuck Valley Community College is offering several noncredit courses this fall that can help.

On Saturday, October 29, NVCC will hold a series of four three-hour courses that, when taken altogether, satisfy the 12-hour continuing education requirement for relicensure. They can also be taken individually:

“Real Estate Agency in Connecticut” covers agency theory, disclosures, cooperating sales, and the legalities involved with agencies.

“Mandatory Connecticut Law and Fair Housing” includes issues like legal and tax requirements, referral fees, revaluation, and advertising.

“First-Time Home Buyers” offers insights on dealing with clients who have never owned a home before.

“Property Management for Realtors and Managers,” a new course this year, helps students learn to market and maintain residential income property, as well as offers tips on increasing cash flow and understanding legal and insurance issues.

For those who are working on getting their real estate license, “Real Estate Principles and Practices,” a required prelicensing course for real estate salespeople, has two sections that begin on November 2 and November 3 and last 22 and 13 weeks, respectively. The course provides a comprehensive introduction to the real estate business, including topics like listing agreements, buyer/seller representation, taxes, contracts, and liens.
