Holiday Fair At UCC Southbury
SOUTHBURY â The United Church of Christ will host its annual Holiday Fair Saturday, November 17, from 9:30 am to 3 pm, at the church, 283 Main Street North. The fair offers an extensive selection of handcrafted and other gift items, including baked goods, jewelry and estate silver, and fresh evergreen wreaths from the local Boy Scouts. Coffee and refreshments will be available in the morning, with a sit-down luncheon at 11:30. Children can enjoy craft activities, including face painting, with the aid of local Girl Scouts.
A silent auction will run from 9:30 am until 1 p.m., followed at 2 pm by a live auction. Among the items to be auctioned off are: A five-hour sailing cruise for four on Long Island Sound aboard the Sea Chalet, lunch included; The Two Sisters Quilt, an entirely hand-sewn quilt created from a vintage quilt top; a steak dinner for eight people; a basket containing a Webkinz creature with multiple accessories; themed gift baskets; and numerous other goods and services donated by local businesses and individuals. Auctioneer Paul Stansel will wield the gavel.
The fair will culminate with the drawing of the winning raffle ticket. First prize in the raffle is the Lopsided Hearts quilt, constructed and quilted especially for the holiday fair by Southbury resident Kim Friend, valued at $1,000. Second prize is an iPod Nano with four gigabytes of storage for music, pictures, and videos. Third prize is dinner for two at the Mayflower Inn in Washington; and fourth prize is a $75 gift certificate to the Southbury Food Center.
