Sing Along To 'Grease,' May 22 At Edmond Town Hall
Fans of musicals know how hard it is to watch their favorite shows and not burst into song. Newtown Cultural Arts Commission says don't hold back any longer: two special Grease Sing-Along screenings have been scheduled for Sunday, May 22, at 4 and 7 pm, at Edmond Town Hall Theatre, 45 Main Street in Newtown.Grease is a favorite of ours," says Bob and Marie Schlump, owners of Café Xpresso and proud sponsors of the film, "because it was filmed way back in the happy, innocent summer of 1977. It boasts what all successful musicals have: likable stars, a simple but not trivial plot, and a lot of enjoyable music."Superman and National Lampoon's Animal House.Saturday Night Fever, John Travolta may have seemed like the obvious choice for Danny Zuko. Producer Allan Carr reportedly met Olivia Newton-John at a party and was so taken by her that he asked her to sign on for the part of Sandy, which was rewritten just for her to accommodate her Australian accent.
