William J. Chockey, Sr, 70, of Fairfield died August 4. He was born in Bridgeport and served in the US Army in Vietnam.

His sons and spouses, Richard A. and Tanya Chockey of Newtown, William J. Chockey, Jr, and Claudia of Naugatuck, Jamie A. and Madeline Chockey of Naugatuck; daughters Cheryl A. Chockey and Candace L. Chockey, both of Fairfield; seven grandchildren, Brett, William, Brianna, Richie, Alyssa, and Shane Chockey, and Brodie Casa; and three nieces survive Mr Chockey. His parents, Carmella (DePiano) and William Chockey, and his brother, Gerald Chockey, predeceased him.

He was a former member of St Raphael’s Buccaneers and enjoyed playing golf in his spare time. Mr Chockey will be remembered by all who knew him as a great father, uncle, and friend.

The family will greet friends Monday, August 11, from 5 to 7 pm, with a wake service beginning at 6:30 pm, at the Fairfield Funeral Home of Edmund W. Dougiello, 36 South Pine Creek Road. Committal service will take place Tuesday, August 12, at 10 am, in Lawncroft Cemetery in Fairfield.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mr Chockey’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
