Police Reports, November 10-December 3, 2014
Hattertown Road
A two-vehicle accident on Hattertown Road, near its intersection with Boggs Hill Road, resulted in both drivers being charged with multiple offenses following the incident that occurred about 1:39 am on November 22, police said.
Police report that a 1998 Honda Civic coupe driven by Diego Sari, 25, of Danbury, and a 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer sedan driven by Juan Benito Perez-Gomez, 24, of New Haven, both were traveling a high speed northward on Hattertown Road, when they passed a noncontact vehicle.
While attempting to negotiate a curve, the Honda went out of control and struck a utility pole on the right road shoulder, police said. The impact snapped the pole and brought down utility lines.
Also, the Mitsubishi went out of control, went off the right road shoulder, struck a stone wall and then hit the rear end of the Honda, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Sari an infraction on charges of traveling too fast for conditions, passing in a no-passing zone, making a restricted turn, and driving without a license.
Police said they gave Perez-Gomez a misdemeanor summons on charges of traveling too fast for conditions, passing in a no-passing zone, making a restricted turn, driving without a license, failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, and failure to have automotive insurance. Perez-Gomez was released on $200 bail for a December 9 court appearance, police said.
Palestine/Platts Crash
Police report that at about 12:38 pm on November 28, a two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Palestine Road and Platts Hill Road, near Cherry Grove Farm.
The collision involved motorist Kenneth Botsford, 24, of Southbury, who was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck, and motorist Sally Reed, 89, of 131 Brushy Hill Road, who was driving a 2002 Jaguar S-type sedan, police report.
There were no injuries. Police report they issued Botsford a written warning for making a restricted turn.
Audi Slides On Snow
Motorist David Krulewich, 28, of Newton, Mass., was driving a 2013 Audi Q-5 SUV southward on Boggs Hill Road, near its intersection with Shepard Hill Road, at about 11:15 am on November 26 in snowy conditions, when the vehicle slid on the snowy pavement and struck a drainage catch basin structure along the right road shoulder, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Krulewich for traveling too fast for conditions.
Interstate DUI
State police said they stopped motorist Mark Bouchard, 27, of Pembroke, Mass., for driving too fast on westbound Interstate 84 at Exit 11 about 12:46 am on November 30.
After investigating, state police charged Bouchard with driving under the influence and with speeding. He was released on $500 nonsurety bail for a December 15 court appearance.
Vehicular Stop
Police said they stopped motorist Mark Pape, 40, of New Milford near 31 Poverty Hollow Road to investigate at about 2 pm on December 1.
Police charged Pape with driving an unregistered vehicle, traveling unreasonably fast, failure to have automotive insurance, theft of marker plates, and driving under suspension.
Police released Pape on $2,000 bail for a December 16 court appearance.
SUV Vs Tree
Motorist Elijah Klorczyk, 19, of 61 Osborne Hill Road was driving a 2002 Land Rover Discovery SUV northward on Swamp Road, near its intersection with Botsford Hill Road, about 2:50 pm on November 26 when while negotiating a curve, he lost control of the vehicle and it went off the right road shoulder, striking a tree, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they gave Klorczyk an infraction for driving an unregistered vehicle and also verbally warned him for traveling too fast for conditions.
Auto On Lawn
Motorist Joseph St Mark, 71, of 76 Huntingtown Road was driving a 2000 Mercedes-Benz E-320 station wagon northward near 140 Huntingtown Road about 2:48 pm on November 24, when the vehicle went off the left road shoulder and came to rest on a lawn, police said.
There were no injuries. St Mark received an infraction for failure to drive to the right, police said.
Nissan Vs Mailbox
About 2:30 pm on November 26, motorist Mark Bender, 50, of Bridgeport was driving a 2006 Nissan Maxima sedan southward on Hattertown Road, near Abbotts Hill Road, when the vehicle slid on the snowy pavement, went out of control, and went off the left road shoulder, striking a mailbox and entering the yard at 67 Hattertown Road, according to police.
There were no injuries. Bender received a verbal warning for traveling too fast for conditions, police said.
Slippery Roadway
Motorist Elizabeth Kelly, 36, of 20 Palestine Road was driving a 2014 Kia Sorrento SUV southward on Boggs Hill Road, near its intersection with Shepards Hill Road, about 11:46 am on November 26, when while negotiating a curve, the vehicle went out of control on the snowy road, went off the left road shoulder and hit a utility pole, police said.
There were no injuries. Kelly received an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions, police said.
Chevy Vs Jeep
Police report that at about 8:50 am on November 30, motorist Margaret Hogenauer, 89, of 44 Mt Pleasant Road, who was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Lumina sedan, was exiting her driveway, as motorist Antonio Mastroianni, 30, of Milford was driving a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV northward on Mt Pleasant Road.
The two vehicles collided. There were no injuries. Police said they gave Hogenauer an infraction for failure to grant the right of way.
SUV Into Rails
About 11 am on November 26, motorist Scarlett O’ Sullivan, 22, of 54 Butterfield Road was driving a 2011 Kia Sportage SUV eastward on Butterfield Road, near Autumn Ridge Road, when the vehicle moved to the right and struck some guardrailing, police said. The accident occurred in snowy conditions.
There were no injuries. Police said O’Sullivan received a written warning for making a restricted turn.
Sugar Street
Police report that at about 1:52 pm on November 27, motorist David Cooper, 33, of Danbury was driving a 1998 Ford Explorer SUV eastward on Sugar Street near the Meadowbrook Terrace Mobile Home Park, while motorist Craig Girch, 52, of Terryville was driving a 2007 Hyundai Vera Cruz SUV westward there.
The two SUVs collided. There were no injuries. Police said they issued Cooper a written warning for failure to drive to the right.
Pickup Off Road
Police report that motorist James Walsh, 24, of 11 Yearling Lane was driving a 2011 GMC Sierra pickup truck northward on South Main Street near Sand Hill Plaza at about 11:48 pm on November 26, when he lost control of the truck and it ran off the road.
There were no injuries. Walsh received an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions and for making a restricted turn, police said.
Car Vs Tree
Police said that motorist William Baermann, 19, of Brookfield was driving a 2003 Hyundai Elantra sedan on Hawleyville Road, near its intersection with Currituck Road, at about 4:29 pm on November 26, when the vehicle slid off the road and struck a tree during wet road conditions following a snowfall.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Baermann an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions.
Infraction Issued
Police report they have concluded their investigation into a two-vehicle head-on collision that occurred about 5:12 pm on November 10 near 30 Dodgingtown Road (Route 302). Police said they issued an infraction to motorist Stefan Moros, 30, of Bethel, listing charges of failure to drive to the right and failure to wear a seatbelt.
Snowy Road
A two-vehicle accident occurred in snowy conditions near 45 Mt Nebo Road about 12:33 pm on November 26, police said.
In that incident, motorist Michel Cook, 18, of 48 Aunt Park Lane was driving a 2006 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck westward and was negotiating a curve, as motorist Wayne Tentler, 28, of 43 Mt Nebo Road was driving a 2010 Volkswagen Passat CC sedan eastward, police said.
The two vehicles collided. There were no injuries. Cook received a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions, police said.
Town Truck
Police report an accident involving a town-owned truck while it was in use for snow removal in Sandy Hook about 4:37 pm on November 26.
In that incident, John Moore, 45, of 207 Hanover Road was driving a town-owned 2009 Sterling pickup truck and was doing snow removal on Dickinson Drive, after which he backed onto Riverside Road, colliding with a 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer sedan being driven eastward on Riverside Road by Patricia Sullivan, 58, of 34 Philo Curtis Road, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Moore a written warning for unsafe backing and also verbally warned Moore for performing snow removal without proper automotive lights.
Subaru Vs Rails
Motorist Christopher Gregory, 22, of 281 Berkshire Road was driving a 2005 Subaru Forester northward on Great Ring Road, near Sand Hill Road, about 3:34 am on November 27, when he lost control of the auto due to road conditions and then struck the guardrailing on both sides of the street, police report.
There were no injuries. Police report they issued Gregory an infraction listing charges of traveling too fast for conditions, failure to drive to the right, and failure to carry a vehicle registration.
DUI Arrest
Police report a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Pole Bridge Road and Bancroft Road about 6:36 pm on December 3.
Police said that a youth under age 18, who was driving a 2008 Honda Civic, failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a local 65-year-old woman, who was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Impala.
After investigating, police charged the youth with driving under the influence. Police said they released the youth on $1,000 nonsurety bail into the custody of parents for a December 17 appearance in Danbury Juvenile Court. Police did not disclose the youth’s identity because the person is under age 18.
Larceny Charges
On the morning of December 3 at Danbury Superior Court, police served a warrant against Elijah Pink, 42, of East Haven, charging him with sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy in connection with a June 27, 2013, incident in Newtown.
Pink was arraigned on the charges in court and did not plead. He is scheduled to return to court on January 7.
Pink is an inmate at Willard-Cybulski Correctional Institution in Enfield, where he is serving a three-year term on a past conviction.
Sugar Street
Motorist Justin Langlois, 25, of Monroe was driving a 2006 Honda Accord sedan westward on Sugar Street, near Sugar Lane, about 10:30 am on December 3, when a deer ran onto the road, resulting in a collision, police said. Langlois was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
Cedar Hill Crash
Motorist Steven Cunningham, 21, of Brookfield was driving a 2009 Ford Ranger pickup truck near 11 Cedar Hill Road during snowy conditions at about 11 am on November 26, when the vehicle slid off the road and struck a tree, police said.
Cunningham was injured, police said. Police said they issued him a written warning for making a restricted turn.
South Main Accident
Ifigenia Trimandillis, 48, of Southbury was driving a 2010 Honda CRV SUV northward near 188 South Main Street about 7:13 pm on November 24, when a deer entered the road, resulting in a collision, police said.
Trimandillis was not injured, police said. They took no enforcement.
Saturn Vs Toyota
At about 7 am on November 21, motorist Bonnie Akiri, 42, of 49-A High Rock Road, who was driving a 2007 Toyota Sienna minivan, was waiting at a traffic signal on westbound Button Shop Road at its intersection with South Main Street, when the Toyota was struck from behind by motorist Joshua Liska, 27, of 18 Indian Hill, who was driving a 2000 Saturn SL-2 sedan, police report.
There were no injuries. Liska received an infraction for following too closely, according to police.
