Time To Start Organizing — And Reserving Space

— For Woman’s Club Tailgate Tag Sale

It’s time to clear out closets, attics, and garage, and get ready the return of a multivendor tag sale. “Clear The Clutter — A Tailgate Tag Sale” returns on Saturday, May 5. Newtown Middle School on Queen Street will again be the site for this event presented by Newtown Woman’s Club GFWC, Inc.

The club presented this event last year for the first time, and it was very successful. All available space was used, and “due to very little expenses, all money raised went to our club’s philanthropic donations,” said Jo Ann Bruno, one of the event’s organizers.

Last year the sale filled a side parking lot at the middle school, sharing space with other Earth Day Newtown events also being offered at the school. This year the club has reserved the full school property, which will allow more residents and vendors to participate.

Reservations are being accepted for the 2012 event. Cost is $30 per space, which covers one parking space. Early bird reservations are requested by April 7. Those with large vehicles or collections to sell may be required to reserve to spaces; check with Mrs Bruno or Anna Wiedemann, who is also organizing the event, when making reservations if unsure.

The Woman’s Club will take care of publicity, which will include classified ads in newspapers, cable announcements, posters and fliers around town, and new “day of” signage.

Participants will be responsible for bringing and setting up a table, behind their parked vehicle. They will also be responsible for taking all unsold items back at the end of the day; nothing can be left on the school premises.

All proceeds will allow Newtown Woman’s Club GFWC, Inc, to continue to support scholarships, police and fire, food pantries and other service agencies that give assistance to town residents.

Send your check payable to Newtown Woman’s Club GFWC, Inc, to PO Box 101, Newtown CT 06470 to reserve your spot. Be sure to include your telephone number, make of vehicle, and license plate number. Your cancelled check will be your confirmation. Event is a first come, first served basis.
