NYA To Celebrate Ten Years With Weekend Of Events
A weekend of events, November 2-4, will celebrate the tenth anniversary of NYA Sports and Fitness. A variety of events await members, the community, and military veterans that Friday through Sunday. All event will take place at NYA, 4 Primrose Street.
Kicking off the weekend will be a Member Reception at the facility on Friday at 6:30 pm. The gathering will be open to current NYA members and invited guests, offering an opportunity to recognize the last decade by hosting those involved with the organization, both past and present.
Activities continue with an Open House — free and open to all — on Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm. The day will include a Fun Zone for children with bounce houses and games, a variety of sports stations and clinics, and free group exercise classes (all day). All veterans and their families are invited to gather for a Veteran Breakfast on Sunday, November 4, at 9 am. A ceremony will follow in the Veteran’s Garden located in the courtyard at NYA, honoring those who have served in any branch of the US Armed Forces.
Formerly Newtown Youth Academy, NYA Sports & Fitness Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to inspire Newtown and surrounding area residents, particularly the youth, by hosting and facilitating affordable and sponsored programs, such as community events, fitness, training, and sport competitions that promote health, fitness, and general wellbeing.
