With catering trays set out on a white linen cloth and fresh cut lilacs giving off a faint honey scent, Susan Anzalone and Kathy Appling from The Inn at Newtown were among the many restaurants and businesses showcasing their services during Destination Newtown. The 12th annual event was held again this year at Rock Ridge Country Club. It is a presentation of Newtown Chamber of Commerce.

“Destination Newtown is our premiere networking event for our members to interact with the local community,” said Chamber President Tim Haas. “Newtowners come to this event to learn about local businesses while enjoying the best of what Newtown has to offer. Everyone should attend.”

The afternoon included a VIP reception and guest speakers. A trade show then opened to the public, and aside from the many businesses and restaurants represented, there was also a host of items for raffle, which were donated by local businesses.

Joy Brewster of Cassio Kennels offered guests information about her kennel and training facilities in town. Linda Pinckney provided materials highlighting Regional Hospice & Home Care and The Center of Comfort Care & Healing, located in Danbury, and its many services available to communities including Newtown.

Wearing her Miss Jr Teen Connecticut sash and a blue gown was Elle Sauli, a student in Newtown. Pausing for a picture with her were Economic Development Coordinator Betsy Paynter and Economic Development Commission Chair Jean Leonard. Glancing at the many tables displaying local business services and food samples from restaurants, Ms Paynter said, “This is a great way to get to know our business.”
