Watercolor Program At Next SCAN Meeting, Wednesday

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will have Cal Martin demonstrating in watercolor on Wednesday, August 11, at 7:30 pm. This meeting is open to the public and will be in the lower meeting room of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole). All are welcome and admission is free.

Cal Martin is a local artist and a newly arrived resident from Beverly Hills, Fla. Mr Martin and his wife had been residents of Beacon Falls for many years before moving to Florida.

Mr Martin’s background in art includes studies at The Whitney School of Art in New Haven, and further painting, design and art history classes at Southern Connecticut State University.

Mr Martin has earned a number of awards for his work at art shows in Connecticut. In Florida he was voted “Artist of the Month” at Citrus County Art League, Citrus Watercolor Club and Beverly Hills Art Group, where he conducted workshops.

Mr Martin’s compositions feature a crisp color style. His teaching methods are designed to impart helpful watercolor techniques to both beginning and more advanced students.
