Two of the nation’s leading a cappella groups will sing together for the first time at Edmond Town Hall Theatre on Thursday, December 6, at 7 pm.

The Whiffenpoofs, established at Yale University in 1909, and the all-female Whim ‘n Rhythm will sing many favorites, including some holiday songs, together and separately that evening.

There will be a 35-minute set beginning at 7 pm, a 20-minute intermission, and a final 35-minute set. A wine and beer bar and concession will be available before the show and during intermission.

The Whiffenpoofs are a legendary and acclaimed group that travels nationally and internationally. Whim ‘n Rhythm was established in the early 80s, and is made up of Yale’s premier female vocalists. They also perform extensively throughout the world.

“The Whiffenpoofs have always been popular when they perform here, but Whim ‘n Rhythm is new to our stage, so we are very excited to have both groups here for the first time,” said Sheila Torres, operations manager for Edmond Town Hall.

Edmond Town Hall Theatre is at 45 Main Street in Newtown. Tickets for reserved seats are $30 and are available online at [naviga:u]edmondtownhall.org[/naviga:u] or by calling 203-270-4285.

Edmond Town Hall, completed in 1931 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was a gift from Newtown benefactor Mary Elizabeth Hawley. It has served as the heart and center of the community since its inception by providing generations of residents and neighbors with governmental services space; affordable family entertainment through its theater; sports opportunities in its gymnasium; and elegant space for gatherings, fundraisers, civic events, or to celebrate life milestones.
