Fans of Cassandra Clare’s The Mortal Instruments book series and those anxiously awaiting the book series’ first installment, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, to hit the big screen on Wednesday, August 21, are welcome to stop by C.H. Booth Library for a City of Bones Premiere Party on Tuesday August 20, from 4 pm to 6 pm.

Kim Weber of the library’s Young Adult department said, “Young adults entering grades 7 to 12 are invited for a drop-in craft party, where there will be a small trivia contest with prizes.”

The Mortal Instruments is a series of young adult novels; City of Bones is the first book in the series. Its description reads, “When 15-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder — much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Clary knows she should call the police, but it’s hard to explain a murder when the body disappears into thin air and the murderers are invisible to everyone but Clary. Equally startled by her ability to see them, the murderers explain themselves as Shadowhunters: a secret tribe of warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. Within twenty-four hours, Clary’s mother disappears and Clary herself is almost killed by a grotesque demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know...”

Crafts will include creating personal steles as well as creating personal rune tattoos in honor of the film’s release.

Ms Weber encourages fans to stop by the Young Adult department to join in the fun and celebrate Cassandra Clare’s work.

Questions regarding the event can be addressed by calling C.H. Booth Library at 203-426-4533.
