Newtown artist DeAnn Prosia is being represented in two regional art shows this season.

The first of two works, "Wild Onion to the Big Apple," is featured within The Center for Contemporary Printmaking (CCP) member show, "Re:Location," on view until May 22

Exhibition juror Gary Lichtenstein (Gary Lichtenstein Editions at Mana) challenged artists to consider the role location plays in their life and practice: Would you be the same if you lived someplace else? Where would your ideal place be? How have your present and past residences shaped who you are and your creativity? What role does your vernacular language play on your creative output? This exhibition provides CCP members the chance to interpret their world through the art of the print.

"Wild Onion to the Big Apple" represents Ms Prosia's former hometowns of Chicago and New York City. The work is a monoprint, "a single print taken from a design created, with cut-outs in this case, onto printing paper," she explained.

"I moved to this area over 20 years ago and I spend a lot of my time photographing the city for subjects for my etchings," she shared. "This monotype is a whimsical take on both cities."

The Center for Contemporary Printmaking, at 299 West Avenue in Norwalk, is open Tuesday through Sunday from 9 am until 5 pm. For directions and additional information, call 203-899-7999 or visit contemprints.org.

"Under The Elevated," another work by Ms Prosia, received honorable mention for the 2016 Juried Member Show at Ridgefield Guild of Artists (RGA).

A line etching done earlier this year, the work measures 12 by 12 inches and was done in an edition of 50.

The RGA exhibit gave member artists an opportunity to have their work viewed by juror Robbin Zella, the director and curator of Housatonic Museum of Art in Bridgeport. The show is on view until May 1 at 3 Halpin Lane, Ridgefield. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Sunday, 12-4 pm.

Call 203-438-8863 or visit rgoa.org for additional information.
