Margaret (Dzubak) Wichman, 89, of Newtown, wife of the late James Wichman, died peacefully April 6 at her home, just two days shy of her 90th birthday. She was born in Danbury on April 8, 1928, and was daughter of the late Elizabeth (Bordach) and Alex Dzubak. She was one of 14 children.

Mrs Wichman graduated from Danbury High School in 1946. She enjoyed working in the food service industry. She began her career as a carhop for the Sycamore Drive-In Restaurant in Bethel and later worked for Marriot Food Service at IBM in Southbury. Mrs Wichman was an active member of St Rose Parish, where she sang in the choir for more than 40 years. She was an avid UConn women's basketball fan, who would often shout "Praise The Lord" while cheering on her favorite team. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

She will be deeply missed by her four children and their spouses, Marnie and Ron Gleissner of Bethel, Jim and Heather Wichman of Southington, Liz and Bill Lisiewski of Oxford, and Jacqui Gantnier of Accord, N.Y.; as well as her six loving grandchildren, Molly Gleissner, Abby Gleissner, Chloe Gleissner, Cassidy Wichman, Riley Wichman, and Travis Lewis, who survive her. In addition, she leaves behind her sister, Irene Zurinskas; her brother, Robert Dzubak; her sister-in-law, Mary Zardus; and several nieces and nephews.

Her son, Richard Gantnier; four brothers, Joseph Dzubak, Edward Dzubak, Frank Dzubak, and John Dzubak; as well seven sisters, Mary Bielawski, Ann Dannion, Lillian Bertalovitz, Ethel Wislon, Betty Clark, Dorothy Read, and her twin sister Florence Maroto, predeceased her.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all of Mrs Wichman's amazing caregivers for their continuous care and support during her final months. Her loved ones say she will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 11, at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, from 5 to 8 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown, on Thursday, April 12, at 10:30 am. Interment will take place at St Peter's Cemetery, Danbury.
