The day camp programs began on June 27 this year.
Both camps came together at Dickinson Memorial Park on August 9 for a talent show. Groups of campers from each camp took turns performing talents together. While Anna Kendrick’s version of the song “Cups” played on speakers, a group of Dickinson day camp girls sang along. Then a group of Treadwell day camp boys danced along as House of Pain’s song “Jump Around” played. Later, a group of girls from Treadwell sang and performed the song “We’re All in This Together” from Disney’s movie High School Musical.
Near the end of the talent show, Ms Reggiano said camp staffer Bryce Bisset shared a photo slideshow he created. Music played as the photos showed campers hanging out together under the pavilion at Treadwell Memorial Park or taking swimming lessons at the camp.
On August 10, the final day of summer for the day camps, a “carnival day” was held at both sites. Bounce houses were set up and a range of activities highlighted the carnival theme, like face painting and snow cones at Treadwell Memorial Park. Dickinson Memorial Park had a dunk tank, and Ms Reggiano said both campers and counselors took turns being dunked.
When asked how the summer went overall, Ms Reggiano said, “It was absolutely fantastic. The kids were really enjoying themselves, and the counselors and site directors really put themselves into the camp. They really gave it their all.”
Ms Reggiano said she hopes all of the counselors, counselors-in-training, and site directors return for next summer’s day camps.
