Students and staff worked throughout Reed Intermediate School on December 7, the school’s annual Day of Service, to complete projects that will support the community.

From painting Hearts of Hope to honoring Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue firefighters, clusters participated in a wide range of activities.

Students from Ms DiVanno’s and Matt Dalton’s cluster patiently listened as she explained the cluster’s project for the day. Students in Carol Wexler and Matthew Brown’s cluster also completed the same project. The students would go on to make scarves and package them with donated socks for the homeless.

In another cluster, Rich Neeb and Jacqueline McMahon’s students painted Hearts of Hope. Students in Karen King and Jessica O’Connell’s cluster heard from visiting Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue representatives.

In Carrie Usher and John Sicbaldi’s cluster, students painted Ben’s Bells. In Julie Shull and Dawn Ford’s cluster, students made toys to donate to local animal shelters, reusable bags to distribute in the community, and hats to donate to local hospitals.
