Newtown Middle School fourth rotation architectural models and other projects were on display for a Wednesday, April 2, technology education exhibition.

The event opened up the technology education room for parents and family members of students with projects on display to visit.

NMS technology education teacher Don Ramsey said he invites students to specifically bring younger siblings to the middle school for the exhibition events to give the younger students an idea of what they will be working on at the middle school.

Mr Ramsey said he provided the students with question that would offer them focused inspiration when working on their architectural models, scale models, and neck tie creations. When students feel the freedom to be creative, Mr Ramsey said they can discover what their passions are.

As a new addition to the projects this rotation, Mr Ramsey said he also encouraged students to build lighthouses and learn more about Ben’s Lighthouse, which was named for Benjamin Wheeler, a 6-year-old victim of 12/14. Its purpose and mission is to promote the long-term health of Newtown’s young people and families and nurture a culture of nonviolence and caring through a series of community building events, workshops, and community service activities.

More information about Ben’s Lighthouse is available at www.benslighthouse.org.

On Wednesday, April 2, different projects made by Newtown Middle School technology education students, like this architectural model created by Samantha Bicho, were on display for visiting parents and family members at NMS.
Newtown Middle School student Ally LaDestro held up her tie creation, which incorporated pieces from collected soda cans, before a technology education exhibition was held Wednesday, April 2, for parents and family members.
