Hip And Knee Replacement Talk Offered
Hip And Knee Replacement Talk Offered
NEW MILFORD â On Thursday, February 12, New Milford Hospital and orthopedic surgeon John Mullen, MD, will provide a community health forum titled âEmerging Technology in Hip & Knee Replacement.â
For those suffering with chronic knee or hip pain, the decision to have surgery versus physical therapy can be a difficult one.
This dilemma is common and as the population ages, it will only increase. An orthopedic surgeon can help determine which option is best for each individual patient.
Dr Mullen will discuss the benefits of physical therapy, minimally invasive, and traditional joint replacement procedures. He will explain when physical therapy is appropriate, when surgery is required, and the benefits of minimally invasive techniques, such as smaller incisions with less scarring, reduced hospital stay and recovery time, and less pain following the procedure.
In addition, he will review criteria and risks that typically make a candidate suitable or not appropriate for surgery.
Prior to the lecture, a tour will be provided of the operating suites, along with a demonstration of the hardware used during the traditional and minimally invasive procedures.
Preregistration is requested by calling toll-free 800-350-1595 or at the hospital website, NewMilfordHospital.org.
