Two Medical Town Meetings
DANBURY ââ âQuitting & Screening: The Best Defense Against Lung Cancerâ is the topic for discussion at one of two Danbury Hospital Medical Town Meetings during November. The first program will take place Tuesday, November 13, from 7 to 8:30 pm at the hospital auditorium.
The second town meeting, âBaby, Oh Baby! Preparing for Normal or High Risk Pregnancy,â will be held on Tuesday, November 27, from 7 to 8:30 pm.
The program on lung cancer will feature a thoracic surgeon, a radiologist, an oncologist, and a pulmonary specialist from the hospitalâs Lung Tumor Board. They include Dr Donald Hulnick of the department of radiology; Dr Eric Jimenez, chief of the section of pulmonary disease; Dr Robert Kloss of the section of oncology and hematology; and Dr Michael Walker, chairman of the Lung Tumor Board and a member of the section of thoracic and vascular surgery.
Patricia Hough, a registered nurse who is manager of the Praxair Cancer Center at Danbury Hospital, will facilitate the discussion.
The program will feature discussion about the latest research and technological advances in lung cancer, the leading cause of cancer deaths. Cancer survivors also plan to address living with cancer from a patient perspective.
Featured speakers at the program on pregnancy will be from the hospitalâs Family Birth Center and the hospitalâs department of obstetrics and gynecology. They include Dr Howard Blanchette, chairman of the department; Dr Fereshteh Boozarjomehri, assistant director of perinatology; Dr Gerard Foye, medical director of perinatology and chief of feto-maternal medicine; and Coral Presti, a registered nurse and manager of the Womenâs and Childrenâs Service Line.
Leticia Agosto, manager of Womenâs and Childrenâs Services, will moderate the evening program.
Ample time will be provided for audience questions. Medical town meetings are co-sponsored by the hospital and the Danbury Office of Physicians Services, PC, and are free and open to the public. No reservations are required.
