Fred Stoddard, 72, died March 30. He was born in Southbury on May 30, 1936, a son of Frederick and Emma (Watts) Stoddard.
Mr Stoddard was raised in Newtown and graduated from Newtown High School in 1954. He served in the US Marines from 1954 to 1958. He was employed for many years at the Fabric Fire Hose Company in Sandy Hook until it closed in 1977.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years, Beverly (Hanlon) Stoddard. He is survived by three children; four grandchildren; a sister; and many other friends and family members.
 Mr Stoddardâs family expresses much gratitude for all the love, friendship and prayers throughout his cancer treatment and hospice care. At his request there will be no services.
