Library Holiday Emporium Features Map Of Newtown
Library Holiday Emporium
Features Map Of Newtown
The second big book sale of the year will take place Sunday, December 3, when the Friends of the C.H. Booth Library presents a Holiday Emporium from 11 am to 5 pm on the first floor, near the meeting room of the library. The sale opens one hour earlier than the library usually opens on Sundays.
Upscale, gift-quality books, DVDs, and videos will be available for purchase, as well as Booth book bags, bookmarks, and attractive stocking stuffers.
The books represent a cross section of popular adult categories, from current fiction and nonfiction, mysteries, gardening, crafts, cooking, and young adult to childrenâs fiction and nonfiction at all reading levels. Sarah Booth Cookbooks, journals, address books, and puzzles will be available for purchase. The sale will also feature coffee table books and guides to holiday entertaining. Additional items will also be available for sale at The Book Nook on the second floor.
âWhatâs different about this sale,â said Friends volunteer Denise Kaiser, âis that everything weâre offering you can give as a gift.â While all of the more than 1,500 offerings are donations, they are either brand new or never used. âItâs a large but limited number of items,â she said.
A special offering at the Holiday Emporium this year will be 2-by-3-foot reprints of an 1854 map of Newtown. The limited number of prints were reproduced to scale on archival quality, acid-free paper in sepia tones and show the map surrounded by drawings of local historical homes and buildings of interest. Less than two dozen of the unframed maps, being offered at $35, will be available. However, said Friends of the Library president Mary Maki, it will be possible to order prints if they are sold out.
The Festival of Trees raffle will be conducted in the meeting room during the same hours, allowing patrons to do their holiday shopping, and support the library and Family Services, as well.
The C.H. Booth Library is at 25 Main Street. For more information about the Friendsâ Holiday Emporium, call the library at 426-4533.
