Thomas Barnhart
Thomas Harold “Tom” Barnhart, 62, of Newtown, died October 15, at Danbury Regional Hospice. He was born October 25, 1955, in Bridgeport, to Rosemary and Harold Barnhart, and he was the youngest of two children.
He attended Norwalk Technical School and the University of New Haven, earning his bachelor’s degree while working full-time. Mr Barnhart’s career in IT began at AVCO and led him to G.E., followed by Chesebrough-Pond’s. While at Chesebrough, he met his wife, JoAnne, and worked his way from analyst to director over the course of 22 years. He then worked at the Nielsen Company until his retirement in 2017. Throughout his career, Mr Barnhart was a respected and valued resource on every project and offered leadership and guidance to his colleagues.
In his personal life, Mr Barnhart was an incredibly devoted and loyal husband, father, brother, and son and a true family man to his core. A measured and thoughtful conversationalist, Mr Barnhart was known to be dignified, logical, and disciplined in all aspects of his life. He loved animals, history, and most of all, fast cars.
His wife, JoAnne, of Newtown; his daughter, Nicole, of New York, N.Y.; his sister, Sharon, of Torrington; as well as nieces, nephews, and valued friends survive him.
Relatives and friends may call Friday, October 19, from 2 to 6 pm, at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
