Robert Alex, 92, a longtime resident of Newtown, died October 24, at Masonic Care in Newtown. He was born May 20, 1926, in New York City.

Known to his friends as “Bob,” he was a proud World War II Navy veteran, Seaman First Class on the USS PC 484, and he received an honorable discharge on June 18, 1946.

Mr Alex worked hard creating his own aero-space tool company, Rolex Fastener Corporation. He enjoyed woodworking, fly fishing, and being with his family and friends.

His wife of 66 years, Virginia; his daughters Kathleen McKeon, Donna Varrone, and Linda Moulton and her husband, Trice Hawkins; grandchildren Diane Kulbis and her husband, Ed, Renee McKeon, Kristin McKeon and her husband, Justin, Danielle Aquaviva and her husband, Dean, Jeffrey Varrone and his wife, Dephne, and Aaron Varrone; and five great-grandchildren survive Mr Alex. His sister, Virginia Smith, and his brother, Albert Alex; and his grandson Stephen Moulton predeceased him.

A funeral service will take place Monday, October 29, at 1 pm, at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. Friends may call between 11 am and 1 pm. Interment will be at Village Cemetery, 22 Elm Drive, in Newtown.
