Garner Inmate Charged In Prison Assault
State police said they arrested a Garner Correctional Institution inmate on charges of first degree assault and possession of a weapon in a correctional institution, after he allegedly stabbed another inmate in the back numerous times with an improvised metal weapon.
State police said inmate Charles Tucker, 36, was arrested following the incident, in which he stabbed inmate John Mills, 29, following a disagreement. Mills was treated for his injuries.
Tucker was transferred to Northern Correctional Institution in Somers following the incident. Tucker is serving a three-year sentence on a probation violation. Mills is serving a 13-year sentence on a conspiracy conviction.
Tucker was arraigned on the criminal charges on May 26 in Danbury Superior Court.
