Newtown 52, Redding 42 â Newtown overcame a 10-point first half deficit powered by strong low post performances from starters David Lucia (9 points, 10 rebounds) and Erik Samuelson (9 points, 6 rebounds). Half-time defensive adjustments and contributions off the bench from Ryan Crowell and John Kerins sparked a third quarter rally that sealed the road win. Brendan DeAngelis led Newtown in scoring (17) and assists (4).
Boys 8th
Newtown 66, Danbury PAL Broadview 63 â After a sluggish start against the talented Danbury PAL squad, Newtown methodically clawed back to finish the first half trailing 27-25. Down by as much as 12 points in the first quarter, Newtownâs Justin Brophy and Dan Gallagher each hit three pointers to let the home team know Newtown was not going to fall without a fight. Floor general Josh Barrettâs 15 points and poised play down the stretch, combined with David Luciaâs double-double (14 points, 18 rebounds), put Newtown in position to steal a win on the road. Newtown snatched the lead for the first time with 43 seconds left in the game and rock solid free throw shooting from Brendan DeAngelis and Barrett capped off the victory for the road team. In a balanced team win, seven players contributed to Newtownâs 41 second half points.
Boys Bantam
Warriors 26, Eagles 20 â The Warriors were led offensively by James Acousti and Matt Gerics, while Michael Okeefe and Matt Campbell led their defensive effort. The Eagles were led offensively by Michael Doyle and Tom Elliot, while Bobby Katrinak and Jeremy Salaris led their defensive effort.

Big Red Machine 18, Celtics 4 â The BRM was led offensively by Nick Rohrbacher and Liam Palilla, while Kevin Finnegan and Kelland Chrystie led their defensive effort. The Celtics were led offensively by Andrew Drap and Thomas Gavel, while Tony Leonardi and Jaxson Mills led their defensive effort.

Intermediate Boys (5th)
The Rockets 22, Bulldogs 21 â Bobby Archiere dropped 9 points for the Rockets, and combined with James Burdete earned 16 to lead the team. Jeremy Fellin threw three assists and Kaustav Mitra managed four steals. Pulling an amazing 10 rebounds was Eric Cascone. Standing out for the Bulldogs, Rucinski lead with 8 points and Jared Tannenbaum threw three assists. Shining for the defense was Joey Carrino playing beside Jason Ferrari with 10 rebounds.
Twisters 46, Celtics 42 â David Matthews lead the Twisters with 16 on the board while Sawyer Conrad tossed three assists. Andre Pfiffer shone for the defense alongside lead rebounder Alex Klang. Tough in battle, the Twisters played with heart and Andrew Cragin played tough all around. On the other side of the court was Will Swain with 12 points to lead scoring for the Celtics. Connor Ryan added four assists helped by Christian Hoffmanâs five steals. Dragging down 10 rebounds alone was Eric Street. The Celtics played their best game so far this year, scoring a ton of points and came up short by a couple baskets in the hard-fought game.
Twisters 33, Scorpions 20 â In the second game of the double head Sawyer Conrad and David Matthews combined for 16 points while Liam Decker and Bob Lydon assisted. Jaret Develis and Mark Dowling were shining defensive stars. While Colten Moroney and Brian D. each scored 8 points, Trever Lopez had two assists, Alec Clark, three steals and Nick C. pulled down eight rebounds. The Scorpions had a strong fourth quarter developing defense.
Wildcats 25, Heat 21 â Luke Rustici drop in nine points for the team while Forest Speed added six points and two rebounds and Patrick Berger dunked eight points, while Peter Manfredonia was the rebound leader with nine. Andy DeWolfe hit a key free throw late in the game. Heatâs Ryan Szalay popped in eight points , while Colin Reilly (5 assists), Danny Colucci (3 steals), and Albert Dean (6 rebounds) played well
Intermediate Boys (6th)
Suns 41, Runninâ Rebels 33 â The 6th grade Suns brought a little more force to the court against the Runninâ Rebels, winning 41 to 33 on December 15. High scorers Riley Cross and Danny Cummings led their team with a combined 26 on the scoreboard despite the Runninâ Rebels Grant Rickets, who put up 15 of his own. Fighting hard for the Rebels were assist leader Zach Bergeron with help from defense star Austin and rebound leader Don Scarangella. Holding opposing baskets at bay for a Rebels win were defensive star Greg LaDestro with the help of lead rebounder, Chris George.
Nighthawks 38, Celtics 31 â Lighting eight points on the board was high scorer Chris Parroll, only two ahead of Ty Runkle with six of his own for a combined 14 for the Nighthawks. Nate Steinberry starred in defense with Matt Rosa pulling down rebounds. Brendan Peterson shined for the Celtics with 10 points. Supporting his team with assists was Jack Lago.
Sonic Pumpkins 26, Knicks 20 â Joey Santella added up 10 points along with Jon Sherman who added eight points in the hoop. Great defense was played by the whole team. The defensive star was Chris Horkachuck and rebound leader, Shane Quimby. For the Knicks, Harry Dupry sunk eight points, while Scott Gregson assisted with four points. Tyler Lennox grabbed five rebounds while Noah Velush-Rogers was the defensive star with three steals.
Free Agents 30, Mavericks 27 â After being down by 16 points, the Mavericks pressed their way back into the game in the fourth quarter and took it down to the wire before the Free Agents finally prevailed. Chase Wurtz led the Free Agents, dumping in 10 points, while Ryan Rosenberger led the defense with eight steals and Austin Babyak pulled down six rebounds. Strong defensive games by Jeffrey Peterson and Nick Marcinek sparked the team. Matt Baldino led the Mavericks with six points, while Joe Calbo contributed with six assists. Nick Strokis led the Mavericks defense with eight steals while Jack Benedict pulled down 12 rebounds.
Ball and One 36, Mavericks 33 â Tommy Catalino hit two key free throws to tie the game as Ball and One took the Mavericks to overtime then went on to win. Nathan Kalra (14 points) and Spencer Brindley (11 points) led Ball and Oneâs offense and Jonathan Schwartz contributed with seven assists. Otto Kerler and Matt Baldino had eight points a piece to lead the Mavericks. Wesley Morlock had seven assists. Nick Strokis (4 steals) and Adam Harrison (10 rebounds) led the defensive effort. A great team effort and pressing defense created a lot of turnovers that got the Mavericks back into the game after trailing in the first half.
Huskies 29, Hawks 27 â Tommy Gleason led the way for the Huskies with 12 points and four assists, while Daniel Winn was the defensive stand out. Matt Lindell scored 10 to lead the Hawks, with Virgil Procaccini contributing with five assists. Alex Romeo was the defensive star, while Nick Norberg pulled down 10 rebounds. Steve Anderau had a strong floor game.
Intermediate Girls (5th)
Ghostbusters 26, Bluefish 18 â Anna Northrop tossed up 12 points for her team. Strong play from assist leader DeAnna Bertola, defensive star Dale Shearin, and leading rebounder Abby Callery boosted the Ghostbusters. On the other bench were lead scorers Brittany Gonzalez and Mikala Nowacki with six each. Shining was assist leader Emma DeFlumeri and defense star Aimee Alexander.
Intermediate Girls (6th)
Bluefish 28, Bulldogs 28 â Micala Nowacki and Shana Evanko added up 12 points at the hoop leading the Bluefish to a win with the help of assist leader Lindsey Jagoe with strong defense from McKenzie Hammonds and Shana Evanko pulling down the rebounds. The Bulldogsâ Emily Grimes shone with 16 at the basket. Strong all around were Eliza Eggleston and Catherine Neave aided by defensive star Jessica Amante.
Wolves 16, Nighthawks 6 â Throwing in six points each and leading the Wolves were Siena Cicarelli and Julia Frattaroli backed by a sturdy defense from Jenna Hansen and steals by Taylor Zingaro. Weighing in her teamâs favor was Lilly Fulmerâs strong defense. Shining for the Nighthawks was Allie Brazo, lighting up four points on the scoreboard. Firm for defense were Samantha Kruzshak and Ashley Mavis.
Dragons 32, Court Jesters 16 â Pushing the score with 18 points of her own for the Dragons was Cassie Ekstrom with great supporting play from Amelia Muratoriâs four assists. Bethany Dubois pulled down six rebounds. Leading the score for the Jesters was Carley Ferris with six on the board. Playing strong were Rachel Maguire tossing in three assists, while Megan Powers showed with five steals.
Junior Boys
Nighthawks 45, Avalanche 24 â Lighting up 17 points on the board was Mike Scharfenberg while Jon Hull illuminated with 11, with three assists by Brandon Marks, and nine rebounds was Pat Sullivan. Ryan Palmer played well. Sean Burson led the way for Avalanche with 14 points and Matt Shannon scored six with two assists, while Eric Sutton stole six and pulled down eight rebounds.
Wildcats 47, Vipers 34 â Mario Pisaghelli lead the way with 19 points followed by 12 points from Matthew Rahtelli. Jamie McDonald and Shaun Margold played well with 14 rebounds between the two. Vipers played well with Richard Sandler popping in 13 points .
Regulators 46, Statesmen 35 â Mike Lord led the way with 12 points and James Mooney popped in 10 points, while defensively seven steals grabbed by Tyler Gidney and six rebounds by Greg Frattarolli. Peter Kerns of the Statesmen threw in 12 points, with Chris Devaney assisting with two. Stealing two was Will Fletcher.
Tarheels 35, Gunners 26 â Dan Morrissey canned 10 points with three assists from Matt Sharpe, two steals from Matt Spencer and five rebounds from Pat Ricardi. Dunnigan grabbed 13 points for is team with four assists from Fiore. Helping out Hutchison with four steals and six rebounds from Volkers and Martinez, Chimileski, and Burton playing great defense while Ekstrom and Helgren had key buckets.
Maulers 47, Huskies 28 â Gabe Ruiz and Mac Morlock shared 26 points. Kling had three assists, Christian Mather three steals, and P.J. Hickey grabbed six rebounds. Dillon Kelly popped in 18 points, while Scott Runkle grabbed 10 rebounds.
Sonics 43, Tarheels 22 â Sean Ross, with the help from his teammates Noah Sock, Andrew Ryan, and Kevin D., led the way with 14 points. Evan Noonan sank 12 points, while Jake Feinsten (2 assists), Mike Darbert (2 steals), and Pat Riccardi (5 rebounds) played well on the floor.
Nets 54, Nuggets 34 â Patrick Thornberg scored 13 points with the help of Austin Puleri and Nick Madden. Phil Reynolds grabbed 12 rebounds and Austin Bonadio grabbed 10. Michael Lengel poured in 22 points with the help of Kyle Haggerman. Both Haggerman and Lengel worked well together.
Junior Girls
Suns 18, Da Bears 16 â Tressa Scott popped in six points and Jade Mather added four to lead the Suns and Courtney Tenney had 10 rebounds. Lindsay Jossick lead Da Bears in points with 10 while defense of Meredith Bridges and Katie Fossum held the Suns to 18.
Hawks 36, Liberty 10 â Caitlin Gibney sparked the defense with her eight steals and Lydia Beiter slammed in 15 points and Olivia Phenix rounded out the offense with eight points. Courtney Escoda scored four points. A good effort by the team, but they came up short.
Rebels 38, Mercury 20 â Jessica Gibbons poured in 10 points with Christina Caporale had 10 assists and popped in eight. Caitlyn made 12 steals and pulled down eight rebounds. Mercuryâs Alexa Powell dropped in six points. and Georgia Conois, Lauren Meyer, and Ashley Cirone had great floor games.
Bears 46, The Pride 40 â Alex Roche scored 12 points, while Tim Eames (4 assists), Kyle Buckley (3 steals), and Mike Greenwood (9 rebounds) played well to lead the Bears to the win. The Pridesâ Colin Cooper sported 15 points and Wyatt Depuy contributed another nine, while J.P. Kitzmiller (4 assists), Wyatt Depuy (3 steals), and Kyle Harmeling (9 rebounds) all had good floor games.
Knicks 33, Huskies, 10 â The entire Knicks team worked well together with Kelley Gaston sinking 13 points and grabbing 13 rebounds, Gechman with six points and six assists, and Sarah Stefko who played well defensively. Lexi Black popped in six points for the Huskies, while Kristy Engler and Michaela Beaudry and the rest of the team played hard but couldnât get any shots to fall in.
