A Truly Glorious Day

To the Editor:

It was truly a glorious day in the Newtown neighborhood as attendees at the 15th Annual Summer Breakfast sponsored by the Newtown Chapter of Regional Hospice gathered at the Fireside Inn on June 16 to celebrate this most humanitarian cause. We wish to acknowledge those responsible for this fabulously successful event:

To the hosts/hostesses who donned the aprons and served their guests with such charm and wit.

To Judy Leko, our guest speaker, who touched and inspired us all by sharing her most personal experience.

To the guests who gave so generously on behalf of the hospice ideal.

To our local businesses and individuals who so willingly offered such fantastic items for raffle prizes including Big Y, Candy Bouquet, Lynn Carroll, Betty Christensen, Compass Bar & Grill, Curves for Women, Firehouse Bar & Restaurant, Louis Galie, George’s Restaurant, Home Alone Pet Care, The Ice Cream Shop, Joy’s Hallmark, Karen’s Fitness Studio, KB Fellows Design, Little Green Barn, Lore’s Lanes, McLaughlin Vineyards, Newtown Nail Spa, Nutmeg Cleaners, Petal Pushers, Priscilla Rose Kitchen Collection, R&B Enterprises, Lorraine Ryan, Sandy Hook Barber Shop, Sandy Hook Wine & Liquor, Sew En Vogue of Danbury, Stony Hill Inn, Taunton Wine & Liquor, Therapeutic Bodywork, Union Savings Bank, and Villarina’s.

To those who so unselfishly donated their time and talents including Claudia and Mary, the “balloon experts” at Stop & Shop, Kristin Hovious, Jackie at Lexington Gardens, Martene at Image One, and the Newtown Police Department.

To Chris Wiemels who was present and unacknowledged from the podium as one of the tireless Newtown Family Support Volunteers…and

To all who gave of their time, energies, and monies in the real sense of community spirit.

We sincerely applaud you.

Janet Hovious, Co-chair
