Will Be Greatly Missed
Jennie Piskura, 82, died December 13 at Danbury Hospital. Ms Piskura was born November 29, 1923, at her home in Newtown. She was the daughter of Frank and Julia Piskura.
She resided in Newtown, went to Southbury Training School, then moved to Ability Beyond Disability (formally Datahr Rehabilitation Institute), where she resided for many years. She leaves behind many friends and dedicated staff at Ability Beyond Disability, who will miss her very much.
Ms Piskura is also survived by a sister-in-law, Beatrice Piskura; two brothers; and several nieces and nephews. She also had a guardian from Southbury Training School Foundation, Emily Morganti, who cared about her, and was very dedicated to her for many years.
Ms Piskura was a part of the Opportunity for Older Adults Program at Ability Beyond Disability, enjoying many recreational opportunities, including movies, and people coming in for entertainment, arts and crafts, cooking, etc. She most recently went to the Almost Home Adult Day Program, enjoying many activities there.
Ms Piskura recently lived at the Pound Sweet Group Home in Bethel. She had many friends there, who, along with the dedicated staff, knew and loved her.
A memorial service was held January 5 at Ability Beyond Disability, Bethel.
