McCann Brothers vs Carminuccioâs: Carminuccioâs Pizza lit up the field with outfield hits by Abigail McManus and Erin Marshall. Defensively, Ashley Hubner had quick stops and coverage at the pitchers mound.
Craig Doersch Painting vs Diamond Electrical Supply: Diamond Electrical Supply started the game with solid base hits up the middle by Eleanor Glassman, Tory Lewis and Katie Daoust. Michaela Bonacci did a great job by catching the outs at first base. Sara Olam and Gwenyth Shaw made outstanding plays in the field. Alexa Glynn finished up the game for Diamond Electrical Supply with a great stop at third and throw to first.

Nuzzo Electric 4, Taunton Press 1: Nuzzo Electric clinched a playoff win led by Melina Cummings, Carley Nuzzo, Lauren Haynes and Lenie Urbina each with two hits. Lily Braun pitched well and Emily Longo and Olivia Nikolis played well in the field. Emma Archiere had a single and drove in one run.
Nuzzo Electric 3, New England Bounce About 1: Nuzzo Electric took an early lead and held off the Red Dragons in the Championship game. Nuzzo Electric was led by Gina Lewisâ two hits and three RBIâs. Emily Longo and Melina Cummings each had two hits and scored one run. Ava Berry pitched well. Lauren Haynes, Allision Pavlicek played well in the field. Lily Braun had a single and scored one run.

McCann Brothers 3, Associated Refuse 0: McCann Brothers won their season finale against Associated Refuse. Jaclyn Moccio pitched three shutout innings and had two unassisted double plays. Kendra Saunders was fantastic behind the plate as usual. Sophie Muzzio made a putout from third base. Anna Burns provided all the offense that McCann Brothers needed when she led off the second inning with a double, stole third base and scored on Hannah Cicciariâs base hit.
McCann Brothers 4, Newtown Hardware 3: In their first playoff game, McCann Brothers narrowly defeated Newtown Hardware 4-3. McCann Brothers stormed out to a three-run lead in the first inning when Shannon Jackman led off with a double, stole third and was knocked in by Gabrielle Calboâs RBI single, which was followed by singles from Kendra Saunders, Jacyln Moccio and Anna Burns. After Newtown Hardware tied it up in the third inning, McCann Brothers took the lead for good in the bottom of the third when Kiersten Fallon led off with a single and was moved to third on Shannon Jackmanâs second hit of the game. Fallon then scored the winning run when Gabrielle Calbo had her second RBI of the night when she grounded out to first. Sam Henriques had another solid outing on the mound and also had an outfield assist from right field. The win put McCann Brothers in the championship game against Associated Refuse.
Associated Refuse 9, Stone River Grille 6: Associated Refuse secured their spot in the championship game Friday evening. It was a total team effort, with every player making a contribution to the win. Victoria Keayes had a double and a triple as well as a key play in the field along with Juliette Cryder. Sienna Cummings, Juliette Cryder and Lianna Perazzo had doubles. Catherine Pendergast, Hannah Marcum, Veronica Vodola, Brianna Giglio, Emily Krasnickas and Alea Willis had singles. Sienna Cummings and Veronica Vodola pitched well.
McCann Brothers 6, Associated Refuse 3: McCann Brothers won the U10 Softball Championship when they defeated Associated Refuse 6-3 on Saturday at Treadwell Park. Jacyln Moccio pitched a scoreless first inning when she struck out the side. McCann Brothers then called on Kendra Saunders and her battery mate Gabrielle Calbo to hold down the high power Associated Refuse offense. Saunders came up big and with the help of Calbo and a spectacular play at second base by Kiersten Fallon, held Associated Refuse to one run over two innings of work. With Moccio and Saunders holding the opponentsâ bats at bay, Sophie Muzzio got McCann Brothersâ offense going when she led off the bottom of the second with a hard line drive up the middle. Grace McEneaney, Ashleigh Thomas, Samantha Henriques, Danielle Blanco and Lauren Kohler all followed with hits. By the time the inning was over four runs had crossed the plate. McCann Brothers added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth when Sarah Holcomb and Danielle Blanco scored to secure the win and the championship. Associated Refuseâs Veronica Vodola, Emily Krasnickas and Taylor McPadden had doubles, with two RBIs brought in by Taylor. Victoria Cryder and Brianna Giglio had singles. Veronica made a key catch in the field. Sienna Cummings and Veronica Vodola pitched well.

Blueline Designs 9, McCann Brothers 4: McCann Brothers ended the season in first place, but fell to Blueline Designs in the playoffs. Sophie Ackert had six strike outs from the mound, while Allie Eurell chalked up a few of her own. Abby Pereira and Noelle Carbone both hit strong singles, and Sara Matté had a great sacrifice RBI.
WellBaskets.com 11, Claim Services International 6: Clinching a spot in the championship game, WellBaskets.com had a strong win against CSI in the playoffs this week. Jacklin Gouveia had solid at bats and scored three times for her team. Kaelana Dauber shined at first base and Kayla McClay looked strong at second. Rachel OâGrady and Tegan Doherty shared the pitching duties. Claim Services International team members showed fantastic spirit and determination as they kept the game close. For Claim Services, Briana Castellano had a single and knocked in two runs. Also providing offensive support were Jenna Pannese, Jadyn Ives, Kaysie Fisher and Alex Watson.

Hawks 12, Cheshire Flames White 4 and Hawks 5, Cheshire Flames Red 4: The Hawks came out on top in a double-header against Cheshire Flames teams. Rylee Mulligan, Jacklin Gouveia, Abby Pereira and Cassidy Datin all had two singles in the first game. Defensively, Cassidy Keller had a strong game at shortstop, while Tegan Doherty and Ali Nuzzo excelled on the mound. In the second game, offense was led by Olivia Mubarek with a double, Jenna Carvalho with two singles and Amanda Berry with a single. Jacklin Gouveia sparkled at third, and Allie Eurell pitched the final three innings for the win. The Hawks would like to thank their sponsors, Claim Services International and PS Direct.

Hawks 1, Cheshire Flames 8: The Hawks were upended by a strong Cheshire team. The Hawks offense led by Mali Klorcyzk with two hits, Kelly Merrick and Caitlyn Linden each had a hit and Shannon Lynch drove in Haley Ryan with the Hawksâ only run with a perfect bunt single. The Hawks got strong pitching from Lauren Wilcox and Annie Hoffman. Brianna Barowski had a great job behind the plate. Qualifier Tourney
The Hawks U14 Travel Softball team participated in the Summer Leadoff NSA Qualifier Tournament in Southington over the weekend. The Hawks won two out of five games, being eliminated in an exciting extra inning 2-1 loss to host team Southington Lightning 98âs who ended up winning the tournament. The Hawks started strong on Saturday beating the Cheshire Flames 11-0 in four innings. Brianna Baronowski and Lauren Wilcox had doubles. Wilcox struck out eight in the effort. The Hawks lost the second game to Southington Lightning 98âs, 9-1. Haley Ryan had a double and scored the only run on a sacrifice bunt from Mali Klorcyzk. The CT Hornets from Branford then upended the Hawks 5-2 in the third game on Saturday. Kelly Merrick and Tina DeMaio led the offense and Wilcox struck out eight. On Sunday the Hawks beat the CT Hurricanes, 11-1. Hanna Bigwarfe had a double, single and sac bunt and Hailey Ryan had an RBI double. Mali Klorcyzk had three defensive gems in the effort. The fifth and final game against the Southington Lightning 98âs was a nail bitter going seven innings in a 1-1 tie before Southington was able to get over the winning run in the seventh. Again, Lauren Wilcox was dominant on the mound striking out five. Mali Klorcyzk again was strong on defense and Hanna Bigwarfe was great behind the plate.
