Andrew J.   Babasick, Jr
Andrew J. Babasick, Jr, 78, husband of 58 years of Rose (Rizzo) Babasick of 2 Melody Lane, Newtown, died October 17 in Glen Harborside Health Care, Danbury. He was born in Bridgeport, May 23, 1922, son of the late Andrew and Elizabeth (Takacs) Babasick.
Mr Babasick was a graduate of Bullard Haven Technical High School, Bridgeport.
Mr Babasick retired in 1983 from Perkin-Elmer Corp, where he had been employed as manufacturing engineer. During World War II he served in the US Navy on submarine USS-S30 as a fireman first class. He is a recipient of the Victory Medal for his service in the Pacific Theater.
Mr Babasick was an umpire and referee for the Amateur Softball Association of America and the International Association of Basketball Officials.
He was a communicant of St Rose Church. He was a member of Society of Manufacturing Engineers.
He is survived, besides his wife, by four sons, Steven Babasick of Waterbury, Richard Babasick of Mesa, Ariz., Michael Babasick and his wife Jane of Glen Dora, Calif., Kenneth Babasick and his wife Teresa of Watertown; two daughters, Patricia Partington and her husband William of Seymour and Elizabeth Caswell of Newtown; two brothers, John Babasick of Easley, S.C., and Joseph Babasick of Stratford; one sister, Anna Marie Dion of Milford; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service with full military honors will be held Friday, October 20, at 10 am from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, and at 10:30 am at St Rose of Lima Church, Newtown, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
Calling hours were scheduled at the funeral home Thursday, October 19, from 5 to 8 pm.
