Career Center

Information and applications for the following scholarships (two are for seniors and one is for juniors) have arrived in the Career Center at Newtown High School. The Robert J. Glander Memorial Scholarship – two $1,000 scholarships (one for a girl and one for a boy) to a Newtown resident who is graduating from high school this year, has participated in Newtown Babe Ruth Baseball or Newtown Softball Association as a player, umpire, or volunteer, and has been accepted to a post-high school program. Application deadline is Wednesday, May 9, 2001.

Quota International of Candlewood Valley – scholarships totaling $1,500 for the first recipient and an additional $1,000 for a second scholarship winner for students who are pursuing a career that will benefit the deaf and hard of hearing community or for a student who is a member of the deaf and hard of hearing community. Applications must be submitted no later than June 2, 2001.

The Bernal E. Hertberg Community Service Scholarship for juniors – for a Newtown High School junior who has made a significant contribution to the Newtown community and is a B average student. Applications must be returned to Mrs McEvoy in the Career Center by Monday, May 7, 2001.
