Shoplifting
Police said Big Y supermarket personnel contacted them about 5 pm June 3 to report they had apprehended a person who had attempted to leave the Queen Street store with about $45 worth of beauty products without paying for them.
Police said they charged Lindsey Palazzo, 21, of Pompano Beach, Florida, with sixth-degree larceny in connection with the incident. Police released Palazzo on a $100 bond for a June 12 appearance in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charge.
Gasoline
Police said they charged Jeffrey A. Dubee, 36, of 7 Deerfield Lane with sixth-degree larceny about 2 am June 4 after Dubee was observed by a neighbor allegedly siphoning gasoline out of the neighborâs truck.
After receiving the report, police located Dubee and charged him in the case. Police released Dubee on a promise to appear June 19 in Danbury Superior Court.
MV Charges
Police report they stopped motorist Mary Lindsey, 60, of 18-B Nunnawauk Road on South Main Street near Bear Hills Road in Botsford about 3:15 pm June 1 and charged her with operating a motor vehicle while under suspension and carrying insufficient automotive insurance. She is scheduled to appear June 12 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.
Compact Discs
Police report that sometime on May 19 or 20 someone entered a youthâs unlocked vehicle, which was parked at a Cobblers Mill Road residence, and stole 50 compact discs. The recordings are worth about $750. Police ask anyone with information about the theft to contact them at the police station.
Deer Struck
Police report that at about 7 am May 31, motorist Helen M. Mainhart, 64, of Brookfield told them that as she was traveling southbound on Mt Pleasant Road, the 1999 Nissan Altima that she was driving struck a deer which entered the road, damaging the passenger side of the auto. Mainhart was not injured in the collision, police said.
Poverty Hollow
A two-car collision occurred at the intersection of Poverty Hollow Road and Hopewell Road about 6:40 pm May 31, police said.
Police said motorist Dean A. Fattibene, 29, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am, turned from Hopewell Road onto Poverty Hollow Road, entering the path of a 1994 Volvo 850, which was being driven on Poverty Hollow Road by Denise E. Lawson, 19, of 11 Crossbrook Lane, resulting in a collision.
There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Fattibene for failure to grant the right of way.
Warrant
Police said Douglas Finney, 20, of 38 Old Hawleyville Road, was charged June 2 on a warrant listing one count of issuing a bad check. The charge stems from a Willimantic incident, police said.
Newtown police said Finney had contacted them to report an unrelated incident and in investigating the matter, Newtown police learned that Willimantic authorities wanted Finney. Newtown police kept Finney in custody until Willimantic police arrived in Newtown to serve the warrant on the bad check charge.
Check Charge
Newtown police said they charged Mark Federico, 32, of Waterbury on June 3 on a warrant listing one count of issuing a bad check. Newtown police released Federico on a promise to appear June 26 in Danbury Superior Court.
Newtown police said Milford police had turned over Federico to them, after which Newtown police turned over Federico to Monroe police, who wanted him other charges.
I-84 Collision
State police report that motorist James Mueller, 48, of 7 Brandywine Lane, Sandy Hook, was driving a 1994 Buick sedan eastbound on Interstate 84 about 6:30 pm June 1 when the Buick was struck by an object which had been kicked up from the road by the vehicle traveling in front of the Buick. The impact caused hood and windshield damage. Mueller was not injured.

Barnabas
Police report motorist William F. Brunetti, Jr, 26, of 77 Butterfield Road was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe westbound on Barnabas Road about 7:45 pm June 2 when a deer ran into the road in front of the sport-utility vehicle, resulting in a collision. Brunetti was not injured. There was no enforcement action.
Three-Car Crash
Police said a three-car accident occurred at the intersection of Mt Pleasant Road and Taunton Lane about 7:30 am May 29.
Police said motorist Pamela A. Shaw, 34, who was driving a 2000 Chrysler Cirrus, was westbound on Mt Pleasant Road and then came to a stop at its intersection with Taunton Lane, after which westbound motorist Hope L. Dukenski, 28, of Woodbury, who was driving a 1999 Mercury Sable, stopped behind the Chrysler.Â
Westbound motorist Brian E. Monahan, 50, of Southington, who was driving a 1988 Mercury Grand Marquis, hit the rear end of the Sable, pushing the Sable into the Cirrus, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Monahan a written warning for following too closely.
Motorcycle Accident
Police report an accident between a motorcycle and an automobile about 2:22 pm June 4 on South Main Street at Simm Lane.
Police said motorist Gerald R. Jossick, 59, of 23 Surrey Trail was driving a 1990 Mercedes sedan southbound on South Main Street and then turned left onto Simm Lane. As the Mercedes turned, it went in front of oncoming northbound motorcyclist Thomas Zummo, 63, of 5 Washington Hill Road, who was driving a 2001 Honda Interstate, resulting in the motorcycle hitting the auto. The motorcycle had entered northbound South Main Street just before the collision, police said.
Zummo received a bruised leg, but refused medical treatment, police said. Police issued Jossick a written warning for making a restricted turn.
Toy Store Break
Police report they responded to a 12:46 am burglar alarm on June 7 at KB Toyworks at Sand Hill Plaza on South Main Street. On arriving, police found an open door. Inside the toy store, a glass display case had been broken and a number of video games were missing. The loss is estimated at $1,000. Police are investigating.
Car Off Road
Police report motorist Virginia James, 37, of 1 Lake Drive, Sandy Hook, was driving a 2001 Hyundai Accent northbound on Philo Curtis Road about 11:20 pm June 5 when the vehicle went off the northbound road shoulder and struck several bushes near Treadwell Park.
Sandy Hook firemen went to the accident scene. Newtown ambulance volunteers transported James to Danbury Hospital for treatment, police said.
Police said the accident is under investigation.
Route 302
Police said Tanjila R. Dennis, 22, of West Haven, who was driving a 1998 Mazda MPV westbound on Route 302 about 4 pm June 6, attempted to pass westbound motorist Edward R. Hewitt, 74, of 17 Sweet Meadow Road, who was driving a 1997 Subaru Outback.
As the Mazda passed the Subaru, the Subaru turned to the left and struck the Mazda, police said. There were no injuries. Police said they issued Dennis a written warning.
