Send Cope To Washington By Barbara Bloom
To the Editor:
Clay Cope has done a tremendous job as the first selectman of Sherman (now in his third term), and he will work just as hard for everyone in the Fifth District when he is elected to Congress.
Clay has previously served two terms on the Planning & Zoning Commission and was president of the library board. I have seen firsthand how much he is respected and admired there. Clay was also vice chair of the region's council of governments, where he built great relationships with other community leaders.
In Sherman, he has balanced the budget and rebuilt the rainy day fund, as well as guided the town through several large projects. He also brings to the table 28 years experience in the private sector (where he helped manage a successful fashion company) and put into practice balancing budgets and responsible spending.
Let's send Clay to Washington to balance the federal budget and lower taxes and spending. He wants sensible immigration reform, a more secure border (he's from Texas), and better national security. He also wants to reduce regulations to improve business and help our economy. We need a change in Washington. Please vote on November 8.
Sincerely,
Barbara Bloom
