Backed Into Car In Driveway
Newtown Police report Robert Harris, 77, of Sandy Hook, operating a 2010 Ford E350, was backing up in a parking lot on Mt Pleasant Road at 1:35 pm February 29. A vehicle owned by James Coffey of Westborough, Mass., was parked unoccupied in the driveway. Harris backed into Coffey’s vehicle.
No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.
No enforcement action was taken since the incident occurred on private property.
Jeep Rear-Ends Highlander
Newtown Police report Charlotte Podolsky, 16, of Sandy Hook, operating a 2019 Jeep Cherokee, was traveling on Berkshire Road at 8:26 am March 3. She was traveling behind a 2016 Toyota Highlander operated by Lindsey Rancourt, 46, of Newtown. Rancourt stopped for traffic ahead and Podolsky did not stop in time, striking the rear of Rancourt’s vehicle.
No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.
Podolsky was issued a verbal warning for a charge not specified in the report.
Hit Vehicle While Passing
Newtown Police report Cody Siguenza, 22, of New Milford, operating a 2013 Honda CR-V, was traveling southbound on Main Street at 8:47 am March 3. Bruce Reilly, 71, of Brookfield, operating a 2019 Volkwagen Golf, was also traveling southbound on Main Street, ahead of Siguenza. Reilly attempted to turn left into a driveway and Siguenza attempted to pass on the left, hitting Reilly’s vehicle.
Both operators complained of minor injuries but neither were transported. Both vehicles were towed.
Siguenza was issued an infraction for operating a motor vehicle without a license and unsafe passing.
Tractor Trailer Hits SUV
Newtown Police report Dwayne Dickson, 48, of Naugatuck, operating a 2022 Freightliner tractor trailer, was pulling away from a loading dock at 12 Berkshire Road at 2:54 pm March 3. Colleen Ferris-Kimball, 58, of Newtown, operating a 2021 Ford Bronco, was stopped in traffic in the same lot. Dickson attempted to pass Ferris-Kimball’s vehicle down the right side and make a right turn around it. The right rear tire of the trailer struck Ferris-Kimball’s vehicle.
No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.
No enforcement action was taken since the incident occurred on private property.
Hit Traffic Control Box
Newtown Police report Johnathan Robledo, 39, of Wethersfield, operating a 2000 Honda Accord, was traveling eastbound on Church Hill Road at 9:22 pm March 3. Robledo attempted a U-Turn, but struck a traffic control box at the corner of Church Hill Road and Washington Avenue.
Robledo was transported to Danbury Hospital for a possible serious injury. The vehicle was towed.
No enforcement action is mentioned in the report.
Violation Of Probation Charges
Newtown Police report that the Newtown Police Department was contacted by employees of Danbury Superior Court at 12:24 pm March 5, stating that Glenn London, 61, of Bridgeport was being held in the holding area of the court on five charges of violation of probation for a number of Newtown-related cases.
London was held and scheduled to appear March 6 in court.
Stop Leads To Arrest
Newtown Police report that officers were conducting routine traffic enforcement on Main Street at approximately 9 pm March 6, when a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle with expired registration. The operator, Lissandra Sanchez-Polanco, 32, of Danbury, was found to have a warrant for her arrest. She was arrested and charged with second-degree failure to appear.
Sanchez-Polanco was released on a $250 bond with a court date of March 20 in Danbury Superior Court.
Collision In Parking Lot
Newtown Police report Ana Pinho, 65, of Bridgeport, operating a 2016 Honda Accord, was pulling into a parking spot in the lot at 99 South Main Street at 12:47 pm March 7. John Castiglione, 65, of Southbury, operating a 2011 Jeep Liberty, was parked in an adjacent spot. Pinho’s vehicle struck Castiglione’s vehicle.
No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.
No enforcement action was taken since the incident occurred on private property.
Injured But Declined Transport
Newtown Police report Craig Doersch, 48, of Sandy Hook, operating a 2007 Toyota Sienna, was traveling southbound on South Main Street at 9:11 am March 7. He was traveling behind a 2003 Toyota Corolla operated by Melissa Christenson, 43, of Newtown. Christenson came to a stop for a non-contact vehicle waiting to make a left turn, and Doersch did not stop in time, rear-ending Christenson’s vehicle.
Christenson complained of a possible injury but declined transport. Neither vehicle was towed.
Doersch was issued a written warning for traveling an unreasonable distance apart.
Violation Of Protection Order Charge
Newtown Police report that at 2:06 pm March 7, Daniel Morris, 39, of Walkill, N.Y., turned himself in to the Newtown Police Department on a warrant for his arrest. Morris was arrested and charged with four counts of violation of a protection order and first-degree violation of conditions of release.
Morris was released on a promise to appear with a court date of March 10 in Danbury Superior Court.
DUI Arrest
Newtown Police arrested Christopher Herrera, 29, of Waterbury, at 11:27 am March 10, on the charge of illegal operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He was released on a promise to appear with a court date of March 25.
False Statement Charge
Newtown Police arrested Albert Arroyo, 44, of Sandy Hook, at 4 pm March 10, on the charge of making a false statement. He was released on a promise to appear with a court date of March 25.
Failure To Appear Charge
Newtown Police arrested Yarlianne Salgado, 27, of Bridgeport, at 6:17 pm March 10, on the charge of second-degree failure to appear. She was released on a promise to appear with a court date of March 25.
