Joseph Frederick Mesinger
Joseph Frederick Mesinger passed away on March 7 at the age of 73. Born on November 28, 1951, in Ossining, N.Y., Joe’s life was a testament to kindness, hard work, and an abiding love for family and friends.
Joe grew up in Newtown, where he graduated from Newtown High School with the Class of 1970. Throughout his career, he showcased his diligence and expertise at Mesinger Manufacturing, Newtown Wire Mill, Blase Manufacturing, and Newtown Country Club.
Joe had an impeccably kept yard he so lovingly maintained. In his retirement, he relished time with his beloved wife Susan, playing golf, tinkering with classic cars, and making memories with his loyal dog, Xena. A true craftsman, Joe could build almost anything, and he embraced hobbies from unicycle riding to bike rides through the town he loved. It wasn't uncommon to see him out on the dance floor, enjoying the music.
Always ready with a Donald Duck impression to bring laughter to his grandchildren, Joe was known for his sweet tooth, his appreciation for a hearty German meal, and his generous heart. He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need-a quality that endeared him to so many.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Susan; her father Paul Mankoski; stepdaughter Laurie and her husband Sean; daughter Nicole and her husband Ronald; and son Ryan and his wife Kristen. His cherished legacy lives on in his grandchildren Molly, Camden, Zarek, Jayden, Charlie, Henry, Michael, and Liam, as well as his sisters Barbara and Linda, and former wife Deborah Denzel.
He is reunited in peace with his parents, William and Katherine; his brother Jim; sisters Lori and Catherine; and stepdaughter Stacey.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Joe’s life during visiting hours on Friday, March 14, from 4 to 6 pm, at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street in Meriden. Burial will be private.
Donations in Joseph’s memory may be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 65 High Ridge Road PMB 246, Stamford CT 06905, or online at https://www.lls.org/ct-hv.
Joe’s warmth, laughter, and boundless generosity leave an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
