BROOKFIELD — Brookfield Craft Center (BCC) will host its 9th Annual Juried Student Exhibition: Artists on the Rise for three weeks this month.

The juried show is open to all high school aged artists in the greater Danbury area who design and create their own work in any of the following categories: clay/ceramic, digital, drawing-mixed media, drawing (single media), fiber, glass, jewelry, metal, sculpture (other than clay/ceramics), painting-mixed media, painting-single media, printmaking, photography, wood, and video.

The exhibition will be presented March 8-30.

The exhibition will be held both in person and virtually. BCC’s goal is to have as much artwork for in-person viewing as possible. For artists unable to get their artwork to the gallery, BCC will present it as part of the virtual exhibition.

Judging for awards will be finalized based on works received in person.

A reception and awards ceremony is planned for Saturday, March 8, 5-8 pm. The public is invited to the opening.

The Newtown Bee has learned that 135 students have had work accepted into the exhibition this year, including 16 from Newtown: Katherine Allen, Violet Assante-LaBash, Pedro Canto, Eileen Celli, Arlena Christensen, James De Carlo, Lily Fagan, Margaret Mattera, and Parker Mauri.

Also Emily Metzker, Bennett Quinn, Lola Roberts, Abigail Swansiger, Nicole Temoche, Greg Trefny, and Trysten Ulibarri.

Students from Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, Joel Barlow, New Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown, and Nonnewaug high schools as well as home schools were all accepted into the 2025 exhibition. Awards will be presented across categories and media.

Located at 286 Whisconier Road (Route 25) in Brookfield, BCC is regularly open Tuesday through Friday, noon to 5 pm; Saturday, 11 am-5 pm; and Sunday, noon to 4 pm. For additional information call 203-775-4526 or visit brookfieldcraft.org.
