Newtown United Methodist Church, 92 Church Hill Road, invites all to join its congregation to celebrate the return of Lent on Ash Wednesday, March 5.

For the second consecutive year, from 7 to 8:30 am, Pastor Steve Volpe will be in the parking lot to impose ashes upon anyone who would like to receive them. The invitation is to everyone, not just the members of NUMC.

Additionally, those who accept the invitation do not need to get out of their vehicles to receive the ashes. Pastor Volpe will approach the driver and any passengers and impose the ashes through opened windows.

The church will also have an Ash Wednesday service at 7 pm that evening. All are welcome as well.

The following Wednesday, March 12, from 6 to 7:30 pm, NUMC will begin its Wednesday Soup and Scripture gatherings in its Rauner Hall.
